I think it’s an interesting time for this whole home automation thing. Google has been poking at it for a while, but this is the first sign of real pseudo-integration between Google Now and Nest directly without much else.
Seems like they’re using GCM to allow you to talk to your Nest thermostat directly from your Android phone, either via voice commands with Google Now or to have it pre-heat your home when you’re on the way – presumably automatically?
I wonder if this will lead to more Google Now control of “works with Nest” products, negating the need for any intermediaries such as Tasker.
