Moes (Tuya) Matter ZigBee Gateway (Model MZHUB)

Another update.

Cerhot (Tuya) Model BSD01, 20 amp., US, power monitoring plug.

It pairs with the Moes Gateway and on/off works in the Tuya. Power monitoring only updates when you refresh the device, so it is not very useful.

It carries over into ST and shows up as a Matter switch. On/off works as expected, but there is NO power monitoring.

It works much better connected directly ST as a ZigBee device using @Mariano_Colmenarejo 's " ZigBee Switch Power Mc" driver. You get on/off control, power monitoring, and energy. Mariano was nice enough to modify his driver to get power and energy reporting working properly. Now the device works much better in ST than it does in it’s native Tuya app.

Although now this device with firmware 0x64(1.2.4) works reporting power and energy by reading the attributes periodically, I would try to find another model that correctly reports power and energy, the same fingerprints with firmware 0x70(1.3.0) works well, but it is the European version.

When we buy devices from tuya, we never know exactly what we are going to receive.

Matter over Thread Update.

I have paired a NanoLeaf Essentials Matter over Thread smart bulb to the Moes Gateway.

First I updated the firmware in the NanoLeaf app via Bluetooth. Then I tried to connect it to the Moes Thread radio via the NanoLeaf app with NO luck.

I then tried directly pairing it with the Tuya app and Moes Gateway and that was fast and easy. In the Tuya app I generated the needed Matter code and used it for pairing with SmartThings with no issues. I have a SmartThings v2 hub which lacks a Thread radio.

So the Moes Gateway acts as a Thread Boarder Router (TBR) and allows you to use Matter over Thread devices with the older SmartThings v2 hub

Has anyone tested the Matter door sensor with SmartThings and the Moes Matter gateway ?? ( Tuya Matter Thread Door Window Sensor, USB 62, Smart Home Matter, Poignées, protected, Fonctionne avec HomeKit, Alexa, Google Home - AliExpress)

I don’t know if it will work.

But keep in mind that unless this sensor is close to your gateway you may need to provide some Thread repeaters to make a Thread mesh. Repeaters could be Thread switches, plugs or bulbs [that are never powered off by a dumb switch].

Or quite a few smart speakers now act as Thread repeaters also. It gets complicated when there are multiple thread fabrics, but it will work in some homes.

In my case, I always add Matter over thread devices first through Apple home, and I have HomePod mini’s in several rooms, so that works well for me.

I’m using the Matter Moes hub to export devices via Matter to SmartThings, it’s working perfectly. It’s a great advantage to run groups of lights and some automations in the Tuya app itself, in addition to avoiding overloading the ZigBee network of Tuya presence sensors. All these devices send to SmartThings via Matter.

What firmware is your Gateway running?

The Zemismart hub started updating to the new version, which allows exporting ZigBee devices via Matter, but it was probably interrupted by a bug. Moes always releases the updates a few weeks after Zemismart.

That is the same version that I have had since July 30, 2024.

I was hoping there was a newer version.

Hi @Paul_Oliver

Mine updated yesterday.

I had it disconnected for a while and when I paired it again it showed that there was a new version available and I updated it.

I only have a few virtual devices and a thermostat that I wanted to try.

I shared it as a hub matter with smatthings and it added easily, but it didn’t share any devices.

Is your Tuya Matter hub from Moes or Zemismart? To export via bridge, you need to restart the SmartThings hub and then the ZigBee devices will appear in the SmartThings app. Not all of them, but from the tests I’ve done, the vast majority are exported.
By the way, can you tell me why the Xiaomi contact sensor doesn’t appear in the panel option to appear as offline, without battery, etc.?

As @higorchv said, I always need to reboot my ST hub to get new the bridged Tuya devices to show up in ST.

I have also needed to reboot the ST hub to get the bridged devices to show up.

Additionally, the 1.11.0 hub firmware corrected the issue of devices being removed every time the gateway hub was rebooted.

If you can, do not install the version 1.12.4 since in the logs every minute goes from online to offline and vice versa and of course also the devices connected to it

Thanks for the heads up Tuya told me that Firmware 1.12.4 had been pulled. Their reply:

“The firmware 1.12.4 has been taken off, we will launch 1.12.6, please wait some time thanks”

Hello there, here the possibility how to add Zigbee devices to Smartthings via tuya matter hub. The topic talk to HA, but the essence are same:

Not wait the FW update, it never change anything. All Zigbee devices are need to mapping it one by one. So you need to report the not working devices on tuyaos.com forum, in matter section and the devs will make the mapping configuration in the backround (really fast, to me, they do it one day)

If it done, devices with same ID (eg same devices) are working other people out of the box.

Has anyone tried any of the Tuya ZigBee door locks and got it to work in ST via the Tuya Matter hub?

I would ask your question in the following forum. Tuya staff usually responds quickly to questions and problems.

If and when you get an answer please come back here and post their answer.

My Moe’s Matter Gateway had it’s firmware updated to v1.12.6 today. According to Tuya it was to fix bugs. No new features were added.
