Modem/Router Question and Hardwiring

Just installed my new 3 unit smarthing mesh routers. All is up and running wireless except the main which is hardwired.

Can I get rid of my Northstate telecom provider modem router? Or get a better unit that i can pay outright for?
Will I get better speeds if I wire them together?

I’m new here and look forward to learning how to integrate my family hub, cooktop, and double oven.
Thx

You will always need a modem for your internet connection. If you are paying monthly fee, you can absolutely get rid of your modem/router from your provider and buy a modem of your own. You can also ask your provider for just a modem, which should be free. Your provider should have a list of compatible modems somewhere on their site.

Hope this helps.
