Making sure Smartthings motion sensors, are running locally, and not on the cloud (Smartthings V2 Hub)

Problem is now that all things that smartlighting smartapp is using are local devices, i still do not see smartlighting under the LocalInstalledSmartApp list.

Do you know why this is happening?

Many thanks, I have sent an email to ST

You may need to open them and re-save the automation.

Also, I believe there is a separate link to check smart apps installed on a UK hub, I will try to find it!

I just did that but it did not work. I just opened the rules though, did not change anything.

Sorry, it was worth a try.

I am using the correct link for UK.

Definitely was. Thanks a lot.

My smart lighting app, shows up blank also Ktsi, good spot!

Looks like will have to send another email. Thanks!

If and when I get an answer, I will post here!

Local Devices:

US: https://graph.api.smartthings.com/localDevice/list

UK: https://graph-eu01-euwest1.api.smartthings.com/localDevice/list

Local SmartApps:

US: https://graph.api.smartthings.com/localInstalledSmartApp/list

UK: https://graph-eu01-euwest1.api.smartthings.com/localInstalledSmartApp/list

Wow, what do I have to do to get those numbers up? Remove custom device types?

Thanks for the links. I didnā€™t know about them.
Are you aware if there are equivalent links to find cloud devices and smartapps?
I tried replacing ā€œlocalDeviceā€ with cloudDevice but it didnā€™t work.

Not sure on a link to check for cloud based devices and smart apps.

Anything not running locally will be running in the cloud!

Ok, I had a speedy response from Smartthings (less than 24Hrs).

In response to why the smart lighting app is not running locally, and also the v2 Smartthings motion sensors on v2 Hub (UK), defaulting to a cloud based device type!

Response belowā€¦

"Thanks for getting in touch.

With regards to the local running of SmartApps, this would also depend on where the attached devices are running. With Smart Lighting integrations with Hue and LIFX, for example, the SmartApp would run on the cloud as this is where the devices are also run. This allows for a smoother firing time. Depending on your Smart Lighting set up, this would be why it is running on Cloud.

I have passed along the information about the Motion Sensor to our Tier 2 team so they can feed it back to the correct people".

I wonder if the children of the Smart Lighting app can run in either based on the devices involved? For example if I make a rule that only includes local devices then the SmartApp child would run locally.

In my case everything apart from the bulbs themselves are local devices with standard dev types.
The bulbs are all hue bulbs but i am not running them through hue hub but directly through ST hub.

The app is called smartLIGHTING so there should be some bulbs, right? I cannot think of a configuration scenario where smartlighting app controls some real lights and it is running locally.

a rule that only includes local devices then the SmartApp child would run locally

Yes, it does.

Just wanted to mention that the community-created wiki has the links for determining which devices and smartapps are running locally for both the US and UK in the FAQ section. So you donā€™t have to keep the individual bookmark if you donā€™t want to. :sunglasses:

I can confirm that the fix mentioned on post 1 is still working. I ran a test for 1 month.

I set 7 of my 9 ST motion sensors to ā€œSmartSense Motion/Temp sensorā€ local device handler, and 2 of the motion sensors to the default ā€œSmartSense Motion Sensorā€ cloud based device handler.

I noticed that the 2 sensors that were running over the cloud, gave constant stuck SHOWING MOTION and stuck showing NO MOTION, faults!

In the IDE I donā€™t have an option for ā€œSmartSense Motion/Temp sensorā€, only ā€œSmartSense Motionā€ OR ā€œSmartSense Motion sensorā€.
So my ST motion sensor isnā€™t running locally, and it keeps getting stuck on No motion, and I have to take the battery out to restart it. Highly annoying.
Uk v2 hub.

Iā€™m the same, no option for a motion/temp sensor.
I seem to remember now that you have mentioned it that I used to have this option.
Is it possible @slagle for you let us know where this DH has disappeared to.
