Lowes website

There are 2 devices with the same model number. If you look at the command classes, they support Scene Activation under “Supported Command Classes”, however they do not support Central Scene under “Controlled Command Classes”. Older switches with instant update like the Vizia RF+ show Central Scene under “Controlled Command Classes”

Has anyone had luck recently with getting an item not available for shipping on the website, shipped from the store? If so how does that work?

I’m not sure how well it integrates with smartthings, but the Nucleus Anywhere Intercom is available from Eatontown, NJ for a discount. If you buy 2 or more, you get an additional discount so they are $159.36 each.

Yes, I’ve done this several times recently. Just place the order and choose in store pickup. Then call once you get the confirmation email that the order is ready to be picked up call the store and ask them to ship it to you. You will most likely have to pay for shipping but if it’s a good deal it will be worth it. I needed to replace a bunch of sprinklers a while back and I found that one store had them on clearance for less than $3 compared to the $13-14 regular price at my local store. I bought eight and they charged me $15 for shipping but I still ended up saving a ton!

That’s not quite how it worked.

Central scenes was an entirely different command set, nothing to do with the instant status patent.

When the instant status patent was in effect, Z wave added the “hail” command set for use by those devices that had licensed the patent. That was the coopers and the high-end Leviton’s in the US.

Technically, the “central scene” command set was exempt from the patent, as was “association.” That’s because the patent specifically apply to dimmers that control the load to the fixture. Central scene doesn’t work that way as the dimming is not done by the switch itself but rather by sending a command for the scene to the hub which then sends a wireless command back to the included devices.

Hail was for devices that did Control the load. The device did the dimming itself and then just sent a status update message to the hub. It is that status message which is covered by the patent.

Here’s the conformance statement for the older Leviton Vizia dimmer. Note that the only command set in the “controlled” section is “hail.” ( controlled command sets can be sent by the device; supported command sets can be received by It.)

The end result from the user’s point of view looks the same, but technically they are quite different methods.

The difference between these two devices has to do with the fact that they have different firmware on the z wave chips. You’ll notice they were certified about a year apart. Look in the command sets for “Z wave plus info V2.” That’s the newer one. Lots of devices released in 2016 have that version. It requires a separate certification, which is why there are two conformance statements but it’s the same model number. :sunglasses:

Thanks!! We’ve needed/wanted an intercom system for a while. I’ve been watching these but hadn’t checked in a while. Wasn’t going to pay $250 a piece (Figured they were new and nod not dropping in price.)
Picked up 2 using a renovo 10% off and Discover Card 5% off making them $131 each after tax

Hi Keven - What exactly did you ask them to get them to ship the items to you? When I have tried in the past they have told me that I have to select the parcel shipping at time of order.

Nucleus as yet doesn’t integrate directly with smartthings, but it does use Alexa voice services so you get some integration that way. :sunglasses:

I’ve tried two different routes…calling the local store and talking to the operator or talking to the receiving department directly. Just tell them you placed an order but couldn’t choose shipping so you had to do in store pickup. Then just ask them if they can send it via ups to you. If you get a no, call back and go the other route or wait a day or two and try again. Good luck!

Thanks Kevin, I’ll give it a try. I found Schlage Camelot door levers for $25 in MS… bought them and want them to ship them to me.

I would love to know what city you found the Schlage Camelot. I dont want to buy them directly from Lowes, but price match them somewhere else.

Does anyone have any 10% codes? I cannot find any and would appreciate it

They were at the Olive Branch Lowes. They had a total of 5 in stock. After the order I placed, there are probably 3 left.

If you are ok with spending a dollar, people still sell these coupons on eBay. They deliver within a few minutes

Yesterday I ordered about 8 items all from different Lowes stores. Once you get the confirmation Email that the order is ready to be picked up, call the local store and press “0” for the operator. When they pick up ask them for the status of your online order. They will check and say that it is ready for you to pick it up. Ask them to purchase ground shipping to have it sent to your home. Most stores did it right away, only one so far didn’t know they could do that and had to ask a manager.

Different experience here. Due to house renovations, spent 10-20k at lowes the last 2 years. My success rate at getting Lowes stores to ship an in-store pickup only item is about 20%. I’m nice on the phone and I’ve asked to speak with managers … in my experience, most stores insist paying to ship an in-store-pickup-only item is just not an option. In addition, asking to speak with a manager has ended up with my order being cancelled multiple times (alerts attention to the price paid for the item).

More food for thought… my account, IP and device IDs have all been blocked from ordering at Lowes online (error code 237). 10+ calls to Lowes varying customer service departments have still not resolved the issue after several months. So take this as you will.

Thanks Bryan & Kevein!!! I did exactly as you guys said and they are shipping them to me! I end up getting 3 of them at the $25 price.

They arrived today in just over 24 hrs. I love the way some new gadgets are boxed in high end presentation packaging to make you feel like you’re getting your moneys worth.

Just finished playing with them a bit. Connection from room to room and mobile to home is very quick. There is a little video lag on the mobile to home but not bad. Sound quality is decent and the Alexa app works as expected.
Sound quality from room to room and mobile is good although when playing music via prime the audio quality is only slightly better then that of the Dot.

I’ve been under the assumption most of these $100-$200-$300 HA items would be 1/2 the price without the packaging. Hell even the boxes for ST sensors have to be 25% of the cost. Just give me the sensor in a bubble pack envelope, save your fancy 5 layer boxes.
