Lowe's Iris Sensors (New CentraLite models)

I just installed 4 tonight, and all went perfectly. Soooo much easier now that ST updated the fingerprint in the device type. I also got in on the $11 deal posted above, and used the Renovo discount codes and saved another 10%!

That deal is still on, so I ordered 4 more, and was still able to use the 10% discount! These are great devices, and you just can’t beat the deal on these things, and I couldn’t resist!

Should we delete the custom device handlers now I wonder? My contacts took 90 seconds to find, and identified as IRIS, not as the default ST handler.

@ehoffman73 It actually is using the default device handler (Type). ST just added the fingerprint for the Iris device to be detected and to use the default:

The image above is from a brand new install.

Even prior to ST making this change I was using the default, so yes I would move to the default so they run locally. The time it took to find your device could be related to several things, but as long as it found it and you can use it, you’re good to go.

I would. There’s no longer any reason to have the custom one.

So we should also delete the iris motion sensors if it will be detected as the Smartsense Motion Sensor, or choose the Smartsense Motion/Temp sensor?

(hope this questioning helps others using search)

Yes.

I switched my existing ones over to the Smartsense Motion Sensor and deleted @mitchp’s Iris Motion Sensor DTH. I just unboxed 2 new ones and both were recognized as the Smartsense Motion Sensor. This DTH reports temperature, too. If you look at the source, the Smartsense Motion/Temp sensor says it is deprecated and is replaced by Motion Sensor.

[/quote]I know you saw that in the current deals thread today, but that deal was first reported here around the middle of January (scroll back up). But some people may have forgotten already.

No, don’t delete the device, just change the device type in the IDE.

^what he said.

I realize I wasn’t clear; you want to swap over any existing devices and then delete the custom device type (you can’t delete it until they are all switched).

Yeah, I meant the custom device type. Sorry for the confusion…don’t want to delete the device itself!

Actually, I did not see it in the current deals thread, thanks for the heads up! I’m trying not to look because buying things has become somewhat of an unhealthy addiction. The discount I saw reported in Jan was $13, thus my post.

I know how you feel, I just bought 4 contact and 1 motion sensor from Lowes and now I’m trying to figure out what to do with them…must feed my HA Addiction!
You know that you have an addiction when you have to hide these purchases from your wife, haha! You can commiserate with others in this old thread:

I just deployed two of the Lowe’s eyeris open close sensors five days ago. They’re already down 88% battery? What’s going on. They’re not out in the cold. They are in my 70° house.

Almost all of my ST sensors drop to 88 and they stay there for a long time. Probably the same thing. I have some that are still running and it’s been over a year.

What @drake0508 said, and in here as well:

and here:

https://community.smartthings.com/search?q=battery%2088

Purchased 2 ST presence sensors in early November 2015. Both dropped to 88% after a few hours. As of now one is still at 88% and the other just dropped to 50% 2 days ago.
