Only advice would be to check the Harmony forums, since this ST forum would be if you are having issues connecting with ST. Not for programming the Harmony to control your devices.
Best case if you gave us the make and model of what devices you are having the issue with someone here may have a clue what device to program into Harmony if your model isn’t officially listed. Although even at that you have a far better chance in Harmony group that in ST.
Just picked up one today for $58 ($62 with tax). Setting it up now…
[EDIT]
OK…this thing is awesome. Downloaded the app, and easily copied settings from my Harmony One. That said, the Harmony skill for Alexa wouldn’t see the device until I connected the Harmony hub to my computer and did the setup again. No biggie. It’s awesome being able to tell Alexa to turn my TV to Amazon video or Netflix on my Roku. It’s also nice to be able to tell the TV to mute or pause, rather than having to look for the remote every time. Hopefully, the wife will love it, too.
Question…not that I plan to do this much, but how do I tell Alexa to select up or down on screen choices (in, say, Netflix). I’ll probably use the Roku app or Harmony One for this, but was just interested in knowing how it’s done.
[EDIT 2] Actually, how to I tell Roku to do the quick replay?
I don’t think you can navigate menus with voice; at least I haven’t figured out how. For replay, if Roku is similar to TiVo you can say “replay” or “skip backward” (“skip forward” also works). If you didn’t invoke the skill using voice command or some time has elapsed you might have to say “Alexa tell Harmony to” before using those commands.
Don’t know about Alexa, but GH supports Shortcuts (Settings>Shortcuts in the GH app), that allow you to create simpler commands - in this case w/out having to say “ask Harmony to” when controlling your TV via voice.
For example, I’ve created shortcuts and can say things like “Hey Google, turn up the TV” or “Hey Google, pause Roku” w/out asking for Harmony…shorter/easier, and MUCH higher WAF.
The Alexa skill for Harmony allows skipping the “Tell Harmony to” as well; but only for a certain amount of time after you start the activity (unless you happen to invoke the activity by using a button on a remote; in that case you always need to use the “Tell…”.). That’s nice if the GH always honors the shortcuts; I have a Google mini (black Friday special) that I keep forgetting to use. I’ll have to set up the Harmony skill on it.
Interesting. Maybe it’s a TiVo / DVR thing? For the first 15 minutes or so after “turn on TiVo” I can say “Alexa Pause” (or play, or whatever). After that, the response I’ll get is “no music is playing” so I have to use the “tell Harmony” method.
I have to work on this remote. Mine is a few years old, but I have had some big issues with it connecting into my Orbi mesh guest network to use the app to program it. Sometimes it makes me miss the days of just having everything done on a physical remote.
Bought one yesterday and set it up today. Wife liked it enough that I almost ordered another one, but the price jumped since yesterday. Might still get a second one though, still a good deal and very high WAF.
Hmmm, Amazon is showing back at the full $129 for me, and WalMart is now showing $75 for me. Still a great deal at $75 though, should probably buy another for pick up tomorrow before the price jumps again.
Are you putting it in your cart and then choosing pick-up, not ship (well, it just shows pick-up price to me without having to actually select pick-up but you do have to put it in your cart)?
Evidentally there are variations perhaps based on location. Right now it shows $76.99 ship price for me.
Yep, bought one from Wal-Mart using the pick up in store discount yesterday. Was $78 (+$5 taxes) but gave me a $20 discount for picking up in store. When I tried the same thing tonight it only gave me a $7.99 discount for picking up in store.
WM deal finally ended at my location although the standard price continues to fluctuate slightly.
The third one I ordered the other day is backordered until Tuesday but they’re honoring the deal price. I guess I got lucky.
I may upgrade the remotes at some point but I’m primarily using the hubs for integration with Alexa and ST. Even for just the hub this was a great deal.
