Locate Mystery Z-Wave switch

So, I have a Z-Wave switch in my setup that says it’s in the living room, but I don’t (have never?) had any there. It uses the ST “Z-Wave Switch” driver and appears to operate normally. It also logs its actions correctly.

I walked around listening to see if any of my other wall light switches were clicking on and off but can’t seem to locate it. I realize that if I don’t know what it is I could just nuke it and move on, but does anybody have an idea of other logging I could possibly look at to get a clue as to what it is/was?

In my experience, if a ZWave device is onboarded and the proper driver isn’t installed, it will default to a ZWave Switch. You could always “nuke” it and if anything stops working exclude it and then re-include it. It’s odd that a random ZWave device would appear, as the process is multi-stepped to onboard a ZWave devices for security.

You could perhaps take a look at it in the AWA to see if you can figure out what kind of switch it is from the fingerprinting information and also see when it was created. That might at least suggest if it could be one of your own that you’ve lost track of.

You could see if it is used in any rules based automations and check the device history to see if it’s been doing anything apart from when you fiddle with it.

Well, my installation is pretty old, and I doubt it was truly random. I am sure I did something over the years and just had not noticed this artifact. Or I forgot. I will go months without touching anything in the app - we use Google Assistant almost exclusively.

I tracked down the Model # - 5250-3030

So that’s actually a GE/Jasco plug-in switch that I labeled kitchen back in 2020. That’s Covid for you… At least now I know more about where to look.

Anyway - thanks for the AWA idea!
