I’m using a smart lights routine to set my accent lights in my room to sync with the dimmer switch that controls the main lights. This is the only automation for these lights.
But for some reason the main lights will turn themselves on. I’ve tested stopping the smart lights and they don’t turn on again in a week’s time. Turn on the routine and it starts turning on randomly within a couple days.
Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening when the accents are only one supposed to be controlled by syncing with the dimmer switch. Yet dimmer switch is clearly being controlled
My first thought but I have my doubts… do you use Alexa? If yes, check in Alexa to see if Hunches is enabled. Hunches may have created a Routine in Alexa to control the lights.
When the dimmer switch turns on randomly does the Smart Lighting routine run to sync the accent lights to it?
When the dimmer switch turns on randomly is it using the last level setting or is is being set to a different value?
When you say the Smart Lighting automation is the only one that works with the dimmer switch, is that definitely true? Nothing skulking in the Rules API or Tasker or anything like that?
I believe it’s the last light level so it’s just power on. But sometimes when I had the lights at the lowest (1%) I do see when they automatically turn on it says it was set to 0% first.
I’m pretty positive. I use to make rules and have since deleted them due to my poor understanding of race conditions while writing the rules so I use only the app’s routines now.
Only thing in Tasker is to unlock the door when I scan an nfc tag (everything is on my phone the tag only has it’s ID).
