I just wanted to let everyone know of an issue that I am having with my Leviton Switches and plugs. I have the wifi connected devices. They are the first things that I bought when getting into the smart home community. I thought it would be the easiest, simplest way to start. I’ve had them for about a year now and until about a month ago have had very little issues. However lately they keep disconnecting from my router and won’t auto reconnect and I have to go to every device and manually go through the process which sometimes doesn’t work the first or second time. Two of these devices are in a cabinet above the fridge and aren’t easy to get to. (wifi plugs) I’ve been in contact with Leviton and they suggest forcing them to connect to a 2.4ghz network, so I had to rename my 5ghz network so that they would be sure to connect to the 2.4ghz. It has been extremely frustrating and has disconnected 3 times in the past month. I have already replaced one with a GE dimmer Zwave plus and so far it is working great. I think I am going to bring these back as defective and go to the Zwave protocol. At least my Zwave devices auto reconnect or are solid, so far.
I just want to share my experience to maybe save someone else the hassle that I’m dealing with. Wifi isn’t as robust as I thought it would be.
Thanks, Steven
I had faced similar issue after i set up my switch the first time.I fixed it by resetting the switch when phone was connected to 2.4ghz network. It is working flawlessly now. The devices don’t support beyond 2.4ghz due to potential longer distance, especially through walls
