Leviton DZ6HD Dimmer Issues

I am a novice DIYer at best and just installed the DZ6HD that I bought from Home Depot in a 3 way configuration. I’m having two issues:

  1. I can only use the dimmer switch when the secondary switch is on.

  2. When I try to turn the lights on from the ST app, they blink on and turn back off.

Please help me!

what is the model of your secondary switch? It would need to be a dimmer compatible version.

It is a non-smart, 3 way switch. Just realized that it’s not dimmer compatible. So does the second switch also have to be smart? As your link implies?

Yep. The smart switchs work differently. The dumb ones physically switch the power to the lights. The smart secondary switch uses the wiring to have the main switch change the light. Same end result, different operation.
