Leviton D26HD Wi-Fi 2nd Generation dimmer

I bought two of these from Amazon. The listing says “works with Matter” but the fine print shows they need a firmware update for matter support.

Anyone know if I can remove the My Leviton app that is required for the firmware update after it’s been done? Wanting to keep everything in SmartThings.

I’m on a SmartThings V2/2015 hub. Mix of Z-wave and Zigbee devices plus a couple of existing Matter over Wi-Fi devices.

The only reason to keep the app around would be to receive more firmware updates or change settings that might not be available via Matter (I don’t know, fade-in times, minimum brightness and whatnot).

Once added to Matter you don’t need any app.

Thanks! Thought so but this matter stuff seems to have its own complexities.

Got these installed and working with SmartThings.

I like the UX of the Leviton Decora Smart dimmers, especially for 3-way, but they really fill up a junction box. I installed two “sets” of them into 2-gang boxes. Tight fit!

Initial setup had to be done with the My Leviton app. Once they were connected to Wi-Fi I had to opt in to an “Early Experience” option to get the Matter update.

Connecting to SmartThings was straightforward.
