I’ve seen some news in relation to Level and Matter support. Now that that there is some movement on the ST side, I’m wondering if there is a real possibility. I have not looked into Matter more than the basics.
It’s a possibility, but we’re still in wait and see mode. ![]()
Just having the radio isn’t enough (nothing unusual there: any Bluetooth, WiFi, or Zigbee radio can be repurposed for Thread: they all use the same frequency). The question is what else the Matter integration requires, including battery life.
A couple of companies that originally hoped to bring Matter compatibility to existing devices ended up deciding it would require new hardware, including Netatmo and Meross, as well as Schlage, who decided to make a Matter-specific radio module rather than converting existing Bluetooth or Zigbee ones.
Level is pretty early in the process, so no certainty for where they’ll end up.
Just poking my head in to say that Level advertises Smartthings compatibility, but I can’t figure out if that’s true or not via their support site.
I’m guessing maybe it works by adding it to another service like Google Home, and then using a cloud connection to Smartthings?
Based on their site pages, it should have a direct integration. But they don’t say that anywhere it’s actually sold, like at Amazon and it’s not available through the SmartThings app that I could find.
My own guess is that they made the product description pages on their site in anticipation of what was supposed to be their matter over thread release, which then got delayed. Because if it worked with matter, it would work with SmartThings.
But I don’t know for sure. I just don’t know anybody using it with SmartThings.
Here’s a shot from their own site
But there’s nothing in their own support pages that talks about SmartThings.
And their own app doesn’t list it as an option:
So very confusing. ![]()
Yea, this is what I just heard from their support:
Good morning and thank you for contacting Level Home. We apologize for any confusion, as smart things integration options aren’t available yet. Our team is working on this option and If you’d like to stay up to date with any changes and features I would recommend signing up for our newsletter here: https://level.co/news
