Thanks. I think your selling feature is price. I’ve spent over $400 on 4 hubs which would be 4 times the Remotsy. Some of the other features you mentioned really aren’t issues at all with Harmony such as device limitation, size or where to place it. One of the benefits of the Harmony hub is that the can be placed in a closed cabinet. All of my Harmony Hubs are completely out of sight. As mentioned above, the big complaint with Harmony is the reliance on an Activity. It makes programming around it very challenging.
@schill do I have exciting news for you then. We do allow both activities and complete independence of remote actions. Both of which can be used through the API or designated skills/smart apps.
@Mbhforum thanks for the feedback. Would you challenge be solved with an API? Or would you required a way to programmatically manage the smart app?
I’d rather personally manage it via a smartapp
Greetings. Very nice product you have here. I was wondering, I recently bought a generic remote control for my computer, would something like this be supported?
@aeg yes we have a receiver to learn generic command from remotes. Although we only currently support the 38KHz frequency for our IR receiver. Some generic controls you can purchase in the market don’t follow the standard 38KHz frequency so it will not be able to learn your remotes commands, but the odds are that it can. I would recommend you check what frequency your remote works on then you will be able to tell if it work for you.
