Latest MS Store SmartThings app VERY HIGH CPU usage

SmartThings Windows app got auto-updated via MS Store today to v1.25505.1.0 (Dec. 25, 2025).

Instantly it was observed that this version is eating up 25-35% of CPU cycles, and this occurs with the app window focused AND while minimized:

Immediate fix is required - the app is bogging down the entire computer with pretty good specs (Intel i7 CPU). The same issue was not occurring with the previous version (v1.25377.0.0) and older. This is a newly introduced CPU leak that should not be happening.

Overall - the Windows app is getting slower, and slower, and slower, and slower with each update… almost to the point of unusable.

Edit:

Uninstalled and reinstalled - problem persists. CPU is being fried by the latest version of the app, keeping it permanently ramped up by an additional 25-35% when the app is running and while minimized.

I also just started experiencing this issue. I am on AMD (Ryzen 7 7700X) with 128GB RAM, PCIE5 SSDs, etc. (IE, not a slow computer.)

The entire UWP app needs to be thrown away.

Re-write the application in 100% pure assembly language.

It is nothing more than a container/interface for the API that it connects to - so then why the unnecessarily BLOATED interface of the UWP app? It’s nonsensical. Windows users prefer a fast, responsive, streamlined experience - not heavy bloat that taxes their CPU to the max and slows even fast/gaming computers to a crawl.
