IPad “Couldn’t download controller”

I kept getting this message in the New V3 app, And nothing seemed to fix it. The device worked fine with its own app and with echo, but I couldn’t even get to it in the smartthings app although previously it worked fine.

I tried all the usual recommendations, down to deleting the device from the app, deleting it from its own app and restoring it there. Deleting the smart things app and reinstalling it. Nothing fixed the problem.

Finally after reading a couple of threads that had the same message but for a different reason, I think, I ended up just trying it on my iPhone, which I personally don’t normally use. And it worked just fine. And once it worked fine in the iPhone, it worked fine on the iPad.

So I’m just putting this year in case anybody else runs into the same issue.

@Brad_ST

Suddenly got this on my Samsung phone for about 10 devices. Installed smartthings on my tablet and they worked fine there. But still the same problem on my phone unfortunately. Anyone have a solution to this?

Brand and model of the devices?

If it’s a cloud to cloud integration that has its own app, check in that app for firmware updates.

If it’s an Edge Driver, check in the author thread for that channel.

They are all custom groovy drivers for devices that have worked literally for years. A couple or Iris plugs, some iris door sensors, the linear garage door opener - even a simulated alexa switch! All have worked a very long time. And all work fine on the tablet I just installed smartthings on. It’s only my phone where this is happening.

I posted to this thread based on the title/issue, but this is happening on an android phone.

@JDRoberts - Uninstalling the app and reinstalling it fixed the problem. :slight_smile:

It does not. I am having the exact same problem on an iPad mini with no cellular. Clean install, brand new.
