IKEA Trådfri

Have you tried looking on the IDE for a catchall event when trying to pair?
If it’s not being recognised as a thing it may show up in there.
I’ve added my ikea motion sensor similar but there’s no working DH to use it

Make sure all your tradfri bulbs near by are un-powered, it might be seeing them and trying to sync with the bulbs instead of the hub. Just a thought.

When syncing to a bulb, it will steal the bulb from the hub. Un-paired remotes have done this every time I have tested it. Not sure why you are seeing a different behavior. Something seems wrong.

I bought a 1000lm bulb from Ikea today. Waste of time. Not pairing. It doesn’t appear to reset at all, just turning the light on and off. Even placing the bulb right next to hub in various places it never gets detected. Faulty bulb? Or incompatible? Waste of a couple of hours!

Philips hue bulbs pair straight away with the ST hub…

Why did you choose the 1000lm? All it does is dim. And unless things have changed, I don’t think this device handler supports that bulb.

The 1000lm is a fair bit cheaper and I don’t need to change the bulb Kelvin.

You don’t have to add a DH to pair a thing do you? I haven’t had to in the past. This isn’t even listing in paring mode and I can’t think of any other order of trying it…

I bought just one thinking that if if works well I will buy more.

I’ve 2 1000lm and they work well

The only things I can think of is faulty bulb as someone above had the same issue as me. Or if it’s the recent v18 hub firmware.

Can anyone confirm that the 1000lm bulb flashes after 6 quick power cycles? I have tried various speeds, times and fixtures.

Josh, did you ever get your 1000lm bulb to pair? I have the exact same issue as you. Many thanks

Shipping in Scandinavia is really expensive, it would be more expensive than the bulb itself.
You can check yourself here:
Norway: https://www.posten.no/en/products-and-services/parcels
Sweden: http://www.postnord.se/en/sending/postage-and-prices/postage-rates/postage-rates-for-international-parcels-outside-europe

I have used 1000lm that worked.
They do work so If there hasnt been and update the last weeks you should be able to pair it.

Yeah them bulbs work fine if got 2 also.
The trick is the resetting , I tried turning off and on with the switch on my lamp but it didn’t work so then flicked the switch on the plug socket and it did flash then and paired straight away then.
You don’t need to click on and off as quick as you can also as that’s what I was doing just a steady on/off

Trust me I have tried all different speeds! I wonder if it’s the new hub firmware…

Can anyone confirm if the 1000lm flashes or not during a reset? Thanks

Lol I’ve just confirmed for you…
Yes it does flash can’t remember exactly how many times now think it’s about 3 or 4 flashes.
Could be the update I know a few people having issues

I did the exact same today and it worked! Who knows… Maybe some interference the other evening… I noticed that the bulb seemed to change to full brightness this time before it would pair. Thanks for your help. Not sure if I should get more now… I will see how this one goes.

Good to hear, I spent an hour on my 1000lm bulb with no luck. Will persevere tonight.

So, if I’m interpreting the above correctly:

  • Power on and off the bulb 6 times in succession and wait for it to flash.
  • Once it is reset, add new thing in the ST app
  • Apply the ZLL Dimmer bulb handler in the ST web interface

Yeah spot on that
But as you’ve read it’s quite fussy trying to get it to reset you may end up doing it over and over.
If you have any other ikea Tradfri devices don’t forget to turn them off first as they try to connect to each other.

@kilters Yes, that’s how I got mine 1000lm to pair. I’m only using this bulb as a canary in case of a powercut. When the power comes back on this bulb will light up and I use Smart Lighting to monitor it - if it’s on it turns off/on other bulbs /switches.

I have had to turn on/off 8 times for it to do the reblink and then it reconnects to smarthings. I have two of the candelabra type tradfri bulbs in the kids nightlights but they keep turning them manually on/off and they drop connection to smartthings. I have to reset the bulb once a week since they don’t like to use Alexa to turn them on/off quite yet. (they are 4)

Does anyone know if i can send an instruction to the GU10 bulb to dim while there is no power to the bulb, will the instruction be actioned when the power returns to the bulb?

Strange question i know…We have motion activated GU10 bulbs in all of our bathrooms. Great idea…but at night if you need a pee, they are so bright. My plan was to replace the bulbs with the TRÅDFRI GU10 bulb, send a dim instruction at sundown and sunrise…but the chances are the bulb will be off (with no power due to hard wired motion switch), when it receives the instruction.

Doubtful. I don’t think the ST hub queues messages for devices when they are powered off.

Can you replace the hardwired switch with either a smart switch or a micro-dimmer?
