Hi,
I have HUE bridge connected to ST hub anc 6 hue bulbs, 4 of them rather old, one of these often (more times a day) switch on without any reason, no routines, no atomations etc
Disconnect several times and rejoined but noresult.
What do you think? Bulb failure ?
is it possible to make a deep reset of the bulb? do you know how to di this?
Thanks
ciao
Interesting! I doubt a reset of the hue bulbs would have any impact. Do you use any other platforms or integrations such as Alexa or Google Home? If using Alexa… check if Hunches is enabled in the Alexa app. Perhaps it is creating Routines in Alexa to randomly turn on the lights.
Also, you don’t use Smart lighting or the Labs No Worries while away? I doubt those would be involved as it is only the hue bulbs but you should check.
How do you connect Hue to ST…. Direct connection; by Matter, Cloud to cloud or Custom Edge driver.
Which model ST hub do you have?
Well, I have an Aeotec Hub v3, the connecion with Hue Bridge is direct with ethernet wire; I am using alexa too, but the but bulbs are registered on philips app, shared with ST and shared with Alexa, is this correct?
What I could not understand is that i have 6 bulbs, of which 4 are older and bought at same time.
Where I can check in the Alexa app if Hunches (?) is enabled?
- Open the Alexa app
.
- Open More
and select Settings
.
- Scroll down and select Hunches.
- Select Settings
.
if it is enabled… you may want to turn it off. Then go to Routines in Alexa and disable or delete any routines that could be affecting your lights.
I have been experiencing the same problem. I have eight hue bulbs and one comes on randomly. There are no routines and I disconnected it and rejoined it several times. All the bulbs were installed in 2019.
Edit: The light just went on by itself again. Bummer.
I tried swapping the bulb with another one on the same power circuit twice, but the issue followed. I moved it to a different circuit two days ago, and it is working correctly. I moved it onto a desktop. and it is now on a high-quality surge and noise suppressor.
Based on this fault isolation, it is related to the circuit the bulb is on. It could also be noise on the power circuit. The bulb, one of five on the same circuit, is hyper-sensitive to this. The lights in the room are all hard-wired, so cleaning up any noise on the circuit is not practical.
I hope this helps. It has been a very annoying problem.
I had random bulbs coming on recently, not Hue thought. But they were shared with Alexa through the Smartthings integration. Once I disable the offending lights in Alexa, the random switching stopped. Hunches was NOT enabled nor any other Alexa routines that included those lights, just Alexa being moody and overbearing, I suppose.
