Hub Unresponsive and disconnects

Hello-

I’m not a developer so I don’t have fancy code to pull to figure out what in the world is going on.

In the last month or so my hub is constantly going inactive and disconnected. I’m sitting here with it now and it just keeps blinking blue. Nothing else is on the internet at the moment.

I’ve unplugged and replugged it in a few times. It will go green for a bit and then blink blue.

This is a huge problem as this it at a house we rent and we need to be able to update the lock codes regularly.

Any ideas?

Which model hub do you have? Have you tried a different Ethernet cable and different port on your switch or router?

I’ve also had this issue with my Home Connect Pro and meshed hub. From what I’ve read it’s a good idea to reset both hubs and then re-add them using the SmartThings app.

To reset both hub, push down the reset button for 30 seconds using a small pin or pen. The hub’s LED should start blinking (green light) after you let go of the reset button. Wait a minute or two and then the LED should start blinking red and blue. At that point the hub is ready to be added back to a new network. Use the SmartThings app to re-add using the standard setup instructions.

If the reset doesn’t work you can try and more hardcore reset process called a “30-30-30 Reset.” To do that follow the instructions below:

  1. Push down the reset button on the back for 30 seconds
  2. Unplug the router and continue to hold down the reset button for 30 seconds
  3. Plug in the router and continue to hold down the reset button for 30 seconds

That could also mean an issue with the internet connectivity/stability or a network cable. Try these steps:

  1. Use a different network cable
  2. If you’re using WiFi, try using a network cable instead (you will need to restart the hub for it to switch from WiFi to ethernet)
  3. Take a hub to a different house/office and connect it here and see if the problem goes away. If so then it would point to a problem with your router/firewall/internet

If all the above fail then it’s probably an issue with the hub and resetting to factory defaults may help.
