How does the local mobile app<->hub control still work if the hub is offline? I assume it works over LAN, but if it works offline is it via Bluetooth instead? Or does “offline” mean online to your LAN but offline to the cloud?
This. It’s a LAN connection.
62.7 has just landed on my hub. Im currently away from home for a few hours but 5 devices haven’t come back online yet. Will see if they come back before I return
Is it known when the new version of the SmartThings app that supports local connection will be released?
Can’t answer that question.
The relatively interesting stuff, rather than bug fixes, normally comes out quarterly so it is likely that it is intended to be released this month. I think we’ve seen it appear at various times of the month and well into the next one. That’s as firm a prediction as I would make.
Is anyone having issues with Virtual Switches (created through the Smartthings Labs) going offline and not coming back online? This only happened last night/today after the firmware update. I registered them on the hub when I initially created them.
I tested a couple virtual switches created in Labs and they seen to be working fine. I have a v2 hub with firmware 62.07.
I can recreate or add new virtual switches in 62.07, the existing ones I had before the upgrade are now offline and won’t come back online. Is that the same scenario you tested?
Have you tried Power Cycling the hub?
All but two came back eventually, the two left were both thread devices which needed power cycles and manual coercion to bring them online
A klippbok water leak sensor behind my fridge which is a pain to get to and a lafaer presence sensor.
My virtual switches are couple years old and were created with labs. I looked to see if they were online and they were and I was able to operate them.
As @JohnRichard said try rebooting your hub.
If that doesn’t work create new ones and use the Update Routine function to swap them with the old switches. It is located under the 3 dots in top right corner of the routines page.
Thanks for checking. I had power cycled the hub and no luck. I had to recreate the switches after the last update, ended up doing it again, and was hoping to avoid it this time.
TLTL. But good try.
Too long, too long ??.
You got the “too” right
LOL. ‘Too little too late.’ Just speaking for myself. After ten years on SmartThings, my divorce is close to decree nisi. I just need to work on migrating my appliances.
I have one location (in Bucharest) where the 6,27 landend on both V2 and V3 (with all the Matter/Thread stuff) (Zigbee/Zwave stuff on V2 never ever gave me problems)
My Matter stuff looked like a christmass tree with some Kajplats lamps going off and on. Nothing reacting any more on sensors or Birlesa’s.
I had 5 (five) Ikea matter devices offline before 62.7 was installed and also after 62. stayed offline.
But then: What do you know? I re-power booted the V3 and, quite fast everything came online and everything working etc.
I even have the feeling that Mygspray sensors are working faster and also reacting on Bilresa is faster. But that could be just my personal idea. I am just a simple end user.
I am leaving now for another location, in Romania, and am curious if the five/six Matter devices (Alpstuga/Timmerflotte/Klippbok) will come online just by repowering the V4 0.62.7hub.
Edit. Nope. Power cycled the hub, but the 5 devices did not come to live automatically. The Klippbok only needed battery out and in, the alpsuga off and on, but the Timmerflotte’s needed the whole procedure to become online. Maybe keeping that small inside button somewhat longer pressed helped.
Apropos. Its a building in the middle of nowhere in Romania. Internet is fiber, but the 4 Kajplats bulbs are sometimes flickering. Normal led bulbs don’t flicker here, so it could be the elecronics in the Kajplats
54 Matter/Thread devices that went offline and will not connect back to the v3 hub after power cycles, reboots, and just letting it sit for 2 days. Everything was rock solid before this firmware update. Now I have to rebuild and reconnect everything. Only a couple Zigbee and WiFi devices stayed connected to the hub. Really disappointed in Smartthings right now.
Did you try Power-Cycling your Router, Access Points & Switches, and WiFi Devices {everything related to your Local LAN} as well as the SmartThings Hub?
