How's your Minimote battery life?

Here’s the response I received from Aeon Labs regarding replacement for failed batteries. Mine are indeed the v1 with the numbered buttons, no idea they were that old, even when sold as new.

It will depend on the Minimote that you purchased, there is a older Minimote that doesn’t have warranty which is considered the Minimote V1 (indicated by numbered scene buttons and white), while the Minimote V2 (black or white, easily identified by square icons over the scene buttons).

The Minimote V1 unfortunately cannot be replaced, but the Minimote V2 can be sent under warranty through the vendor of purchase.

If these are indeed the Minimote V1, these are units that have been manufacturered over 5 years ago which the age may be the cause of the quick battery failure.

I opened up the remote and with a little soldering I think the battery can be replaced. Ordered a 5 pack of 302323 batteries from eBay for $12, hard to go wrong for that price. Will attempt to replace and see how that works.
