How do I remove the Hue Bridge and start over?

Currently, I am dealing with a problem with my Hue lights. Earlier today I added the Hue hub and set up 7 lights. Then I added a few more lights to the Hue hub, but the SmartThings app does not see them. I saw a post here that says it is impossible to add new lights after the fact (really?), and they said you have to uninstall the Hue hub and re-add it. But when I try to “uninstall” the hub I get the error “Device still in use. Remove form Smartapps, Dashboards …”. So I went through and uninstalled each individual light, but I still get the same error trying to uninstall the hub. I cannot find any other place where the hub is referenced. If the system knows a device is “still in use” - why in the world can’t it just tell me wth is using it?!

Anyhow … does anyone know the trick here? How can I remove the Hue hub and start over? I don’t even care if I have to reset the entire Smartthings system and start from scratch - I just want to move forward after fighting this thing all… day… long.

Thanks for any help!

I had the same problem a few weeks ago. The SmartThings support team helped me out then.

In my case I also thought I had everything removed, but it turned out I forgot one thing. The steps I had to follow were these:

  • Tap the Things module on the Dashboard
  • Tap the gear icon in the top right corner of the hue bridge tile
  • Choose SmartApps
  • Select Hue (Connect) and then deselect the hue bridge
  • Go through the screens tapping Next and Done

Hope this helps…

Thanks so much for the response! This gave me hope, but I tried it and I’m still getting the same error. :frowning:

Guess I’ll try calling support tomorrow.
