Hello, How can I determine the brand, model #, features of things like switches and receptacles, besides pulling off the coverplate? I can’t find such info in Android App nor my.smartthings.com
I’ve kinds fallen off the tater-truck after the great reset of early 2023, but I’m sure the old system gave me some of that info. In particular, I just installed a Jasco 700 series switch, I got this weird warning about S2 security not being active…how do I determine if S2 is really active?
When installing S2 devices, you must either 1) initiate the installation using the QR code so that the DSK is read at initiation time or 2) manually enter the DSK when prompted. Failure to do that will result in S2 not being active and your device may encounter issues with communicating with the hub.
Thanks Paul! So, for the reported Jasco 700 Series switch, your API browser reports “NW Security Level ZWAVE_S2_FAILED”, confirming what I expected.
Does your browser offer the ability to change parameters or is it read-only (I checked all the boxes when generating the API token)? On the same switch, I notice a “Key” called “Name” with not very useful value of “switch-level-indicator”. It would be nice tobe able to edit that to something like Jasco “700S dimmer”, possible? I tried a more obvious edit-attempted to Delete an obsolete lighting automation…but nothing happens with Delete button…so read-only, perhaps??
Thanks Bruce. I was stumbling around while attempting the network install. Switch Instructions plus Android App Add-Device essentially offered me ~ 3 options to install 1. Link an UltraPro Account to ST account. What??? I don’t have an UltraPro account. 2. Scan the QR code on the box. There is no such QR code on box. It has since dawned on me there is likely a QR code on the hardware itself, and located on the front, so don’t have to un-shoehorn the switch out of the switchbox to scan. 3. Press the switch button to place in include/pairing mode. Maybe this is what got the non-S2 link…but I got no feedback from switch LED that it was in include mode.
Your thoughts? Just to hear it again, the old, non-S2 way of including by a vendor- unique button press sequence won’t work well with S2 devices, right???
You can use @Mariano_Colmenarejo Z-wave Thing MC edge driver to get the information you need. Just temporary change to this driver and the information should be seen in History Tab and in my.SmartThings.com (not in the advance ). You can change back to you original driver when you done.
My experience has been that GE/Jasco switches and outlets put the QR code on the side of the device necessitating removing it from the junction box. However, on the Jasco website, it appears there is a QR code on the front. ultrapro-z-wave-in-wall-smart-dimmer-with-quickfit-and-simplewire-white
Pressing the switch button would be required regardless of how you were attempting to add the device. It has to be in pairing mode to get added to the hub.
Not sure what instructions you are referring to, but on the Jasco website, it says to put your hub in pairing mode and then push the top or bottom of the rocker switch. So, you can put the hub in pairing mode by either 1) selecting Add Device->Partner device->GE; 2) scanning the QR code; 3) doing a Scan Nearby.
Since the security level is ZWAVE_S2_FAILED, you were likely prompted at some point for the DSK (also found on the QR code sticker) and went on with the pairing without supplying it.
At this point, I would exclude the device to delete it from your hub and then re-add it by using the QR code.
