Honeywell Tuxedo Touch Alarm Panel Integration?

Hello Edward,

I just added my ST as a secondary and it shows up on the Tuxedo. But I don’t see any of the devices that are currently on the Tuxedo showing up on the ST app on my phone. Do I have to do something else to get them all to download from the Tuxedo to the ST?

Regards,

Rob

My Tuxedo never transfered devices and there is no way to add them as a secondary hub. I asked several times for help on this forum but no replies. In the end I sent back the ST hub and just use the Tux. Good luck, hope you get some help with this.

Update to my Jan13 post:
It’s working now! Not sure if there were updates to the ST hub or Tuxedo that did the trick, but I was able to add the ST hub as a secondary controller. All the Zwave devices were transferred and the ST Hub shows as a generic controller on the Tuxedo.
Note: the device names were not transferred, so I had to manually figure out which “Zwave Device” was which and change the names. Functionality seems pretty good, response times are quick. Added ST hub skill to Alexa and was able to control via voice.
I’m sure there will be issues adding new devices late on, but for now all 12 of my current ZWave modules are working fine. Even my Aeon metering controllers show watts consumed.
Arming and disarming the Tuxedo is not possible via ST, but I consider that a good thing. The Tuxedo is voice controlled and has it’s own panel anyway. I’d rather keep that controlled locally or via Honeywell’s Total control.

So when you add a device with your tuxedo do you have to reset ST everytime?

Yeah, I will probabaly have to restart the sync process or add them to ST manually/ I’ll cross that bridge later.

Yea that’s the worst part of having ST as the secondary I think.
I’ve had my tuxedo for about 2 years with about 5 zwave
Switches/ dimmers. I bought the echo dot and wanted to use voice control but couldn’t to it alone with the tuxedo only.
So I bought the ST hub 4 days ago and I have tuxedo as main,ST secondary, echo dot synced with ST hub and I’ve added the TC 2.0 app to the ST hub as of last night.I t took me about 12 hours to get it working though but it works great…just hate the idea of haveing to go through all that work to add more devices later( more sooner than later).
I though I had read a post that you sent back you ST hub
But I guess you decided to try again. Good luck and it continues to work for us tuxedo users without any major problems.

You are correct, I sent back my first ST hub when it failed to connect as secondary. But when I saw that Samsung had the hub at 50% off, I decided to try again. I figured I could ebay the thing for a profit if this attempt didn’t work.
I have about 12 ZWave devices, which is the same amount of X-10 devices from my earlier days of HA. Basically, 8 core devices plus 4 floating spares (for holiday lights). I really don’t see myself adding anymore lights for a long time. As for sensors, I’m kinda on the fence with that. My fire alarms talk to the Tuxedo, which means I get notified as well as my fire department. I’m not sure I want my ST hub to do anything about a fire alarm. My Tuxedo will call the monitoring station and turn on all the lights.
Like you, I use Alexa to activate my lights, plus a Logitech Harmony Hub for audio/video control. I can control devices by voice, but now want to create macros for group commands. Since I just activated my ST hub, I’m still working on the macro thing. Any hints or help would be appreciated. I’d love to say “movie time” and have my audio switch correctly, lights dim and NetFlix come up.

George I would suggest you look into stringify - easiest way to piece everything together

Just be aware that Stringify was recently acquired by Comcast, so there’s no telling what will happen with the app in the future.

So if you wouldn’t invest in a particular setup without having Stringify as the connecting piece, You might want to wait and see what happens with it over the next couple of months.

@George_Novak

Thanks Gents. I ended up using the web console to create simulated switches to control device groups. Works well when coupled to an Internal App. Like many systems, the setup is a bit odd, but the execution works well.

How did you get st and tuxedo to pair? I cant get them to see each other. Im just after adding the st as a secondary so i can add devices that the tuxedo wont accept and to expand voice command with alexa. Is this what your doing?

Yes, my ST is a secondary hub on the system. Maybe I just got lucky, but the Tuxedo saw the ST as a “secondary controller” when I did the “add device” process. When I checked the ST hub, all the light controllers were in the database.
I just had to adjust the names, since they were listed as generic. My ST hub and Tuxedo are about 15 feet apart and on separate floors. Maybe you are too close when trying to pair.

My ST is primary to my tuxedo. But alarm functions done work and names of
course do not carry over

Sorry it looks like George beet me to it, but yes just as George said. I first opened ST app and hit + to add a device
Then on my tuxedo keypad hit the scan for new devices tab.
My ST hub and tuxedo are only about 15’ apart as well but on the same floor. As stated you might want to rename devices as you will have generic labels.
I yes did just mainly get the ST hub for integration with my echo dot.

Anyone that may run across this in 2020… I banged my head against the wall for hours trying to get the Smartthings hub to connect to my tuxedo. The catch is you have to use the Smartthings Classic app. The newer app as of right now will not let you connect it to the tuxedo. It is a breeze to do in Classic though.

Robert, Did you add your ST as a secondary or primary? I was also looking at Konnected. I’m looking to leave alarm system as is and just be able to see the alarm door / window sensors in my ST app for robots and monitoring and such.

I just have it connected as a secondary. It is a bit of a pain in the butt with Tuxedo, even with everything working Tuxedo continues to display Smartthings as ‘failed’ so it isn’t worth the hassle of trying to get it as the primary.

Honestly if I run into issues with it I’m probably going to just drop everything from the Tuxedo and point it all directly at Smartthings. The Tuxedo came with the house and we hate the thing, I just refuse to pay a subscription to utilize their app. Fortunately I got around that for a long time via the web interface you can access it through by setting up a port forward to it but it has minimal functionality that way.

Anyway the only real issues with using Smartthings as secondary is if you add any more devices to your Tuxedo you have to drop the Smartthings hub off and re-add essentially forcing you to setup everything again. Also I did run into 1 issue where Smartthings and Tuxedo stopped talking entirely but I resolved that by repairing the Zwave network fairly easily.

Other than that its been perfect outside of this custom Roku app I have in Smartthings. Every time Smartthings drops offline it is about a 15 minute process to get it to see my Roku again. Initially this stemmed from the Roku/Google Home integration only letting you control 1 device but I’ve continued using it because the custom app w Smartthings lets me control more things as the Roku integration voice commands aren’t as robust.

If there’s anything I can help with feel free to reply back. I only just set this to about a month ago but I have banged my head through most of the issues I think on getting it to work with Tuxedo (the biggest headache being that you must use the classic app, I was about to send it back to Amazon until I ran across an old post advising of that). We’ve got switches, Roku TV and a MyQ garage opener all controllable via Google Home funneled through Smartthings.
