Halo Smart Smoke Detector

The switch should turn on the LED.

Give me some time to see what is going on.

Does the light tile on the device page allow you to turn on and off the light?

I hear ST is selling them and running a special

Ecobee is on our list to integrate with & we should be able to accomplish this in a few months.

No current plan to work as a temp sensor for ecobee, but I’ll put it in as a feature request.

No plans for a Thermostat - We are focused on life safety in and around the home.

We already work with Alexa natively https://support.halosmartlabs.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003034967-How-to-Add-My-Halo-to-Amazon-Alexa

Selling (kind of… listed as back-ordered) , but not seeing a special.

My mistake the deal ended on Sunday 5/14/17.

Thanks for looking into it!

Yes, the light tile on the device page toggles the light on and off correctly. However, when I run my routine, which turns on the “switch”, the light doesn’t come on.

I would like to turn on all of my lights when either the smoke or CO2 detectors are not “clear”. Can someone recommend a solution for that? Smart Alarm maybe? Something better?

Smart Home Monitor does that, and that’s what I use. I use SHM just for that, water leaks, and some custom rules.

Thanks. I haven’t used anything in there before.

I’ve added the smoke detector. Does that also include CO2?

It should because the title in the set up process says “Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm Configuration”. It should be triggered by any alarm condition sent by the Halo.

Thanks! Missed that and only saw “Smoke” on the status screen.

Where can i get more info about smart home monitor?

I wasn’t sure what it was either because I never had anything to monitor before but it is the “Dashboard” tab at the bottom.

Reached out to support but figured I’d also ask around here. I setup my first Halo today and ran into two issues I’m curious if anyone else has seen:

  1. There is a constant high pitched electrical buzz.
  2. I’m not getting any voice prompts. The alarm beep works correctly but the device has never talked to me. I first setup through Halo then in ST, never heard a voice.

Yes. I hear the same thing with all of mine to different degrees. Turn on the LED and the pitch changes.

I received a bad unit that I couldn’t do anything with (just blinked red) but otherwise have always gotten audio messages. It sounds like yours actually works otherwise so I’d work with Halo support. They are very good about fixing any issues.

Thanks for the response!

This might be a deal breaker for me :frowning: The one unit I have is in an area that I only walk by but I cant imagine having more in the house, in bedrooms, and hearing a constant buzz while I’m trying to sleep.

I wonder if there are any units that don’t buzz, or if the ones that “don’t” are because people can’t hear that frequency.

I haven’t noticed it, I only have one Halo in my living room, so it’s possible the usual background noise drowns it out if it’s really there.

Sounds like your Halo has a loud transformer. I haven’t heard any high pitch sounds coming from mine. (4 installed) I’m sure Halo Support can replace it if you reach out to them.

Maybe I’ve just been lucky . I own three and had to have two replaced (one for a bad sensor, one for a red ring of death). All three buzz noticably when using the LEDs but are much softer otherwise. My Halo+ buzzes considerably louder than the others.

After saying that I really like the product overall, but I would find the buzzing of all three annoying if my house had smoke detectors in the bedrooms.

I don’t hear a buzz on any of my units. The first unit I purchased had similar issues to your with not giving any voice prompts. Halo switched it out and it’s been smooth sailing ever since. This particular unit is in my toddler’s room and it’s completely silent. Or at least no one in my household can hear it. Good luck!

Hey!

We are so sorry if you have any issue with your halo whining/buzzing.

We want you to sleep well at night feeling safe and secure, but if the Halo is preventing that we missed our mark.

This issue was resolved immediately in production, but if you need a replacement, please contact our Customer Support.
