I have no idea how to even look at event logs. Even if I did, unless something wasn’t working I wouldn’t even look at them except out of curiosity. I assume the update to the v2 hub occurred today. I left the house early, everything was working and just a few minutes ago I got back and everything is working. I know every system is different but mine basically opens and closes the garage door using echo or presence detection. Both of those are working. All my motion sensors which are set to activate certain lights between sunset sunrise, Hue lights, Linear wall dimmers are working perfectly as are my many multi-purpose sensors. I have no complaints.
Don’t be so melodramatic, these are UPNP/SSDP messages, these are known network discovery protocols, you do realise all your DNLA and Windows and all sorts of devices do this all the time.
Stop with the conspiracy theories/Samsung hate. Get over it, Samsung is no worse/better than any other company.
Yeah, but they don’t send my network discovery traffic to their servers without my knowledge. Anyway, if you’re not concerned about it, it’s your choice, but do me a favor, don’t tell me what to do.
Just in case you do ever want to look at the logs…
This is discovery traffic that’s hitting the hub…
Perhaps we should get upset about ARP requests on your network for MAC address of your hub…
ARP does not reveal anything about a device other than its IP address. SSDP reveals what type of devices you have in your home. This is valuable intelligence for those who know how to use it.
Hypothetically, once they discover your UPnP servers for example, they could sniff your playlists and find out your music or movie watching preferences. Who knows what else creative minds at Samsung are after?
And the vendor and other valuable intelligence for those who know how to use it…
It’s increasingly clear to everyone that you have a massive chip on your shoulder about SmartThings/Samsung and you use every opportunity in many threads to make sure people know At some point you have to just cut your losses and move on if you’re so aggravated by it all, no matter how much you say you aren’t anti-ST.
I consider your post a personal attack, which is in violation of the ToU policy, and going to flag it as inappropriate. Have a nice day.
You’re free to your opinion, I’m not trying to attack you, only pointing out what is increasingly becoming obvious and could also potentially be seen as an attack on the community itself.
Wow, we digressed guys! All I wanted to do was to see if anyone else was getting the same events (and how quick support got back to me!).
I like pie.
cause pie is good.
The ‘Jonas’ brothers here, and the storm didn’t even kick in yet!
I consider your statement a personal attack calling for dissection of helpless fruit! Some of my best friends have apples!

I’m sorry, but according to the U.S. government pie is not a fruit, but a balanced meal…
Dairy
Poultry (eggs)
Fruit
Vegetable (flour)
Grain (more flour)
Plus, I’d never hurt a fruit… Most of my friends are fruits!
I wither before your logic. Well played.

This community and forum are about sharing! And not only opinions, because everyone can form their own, but apps and solutions to improve ST. If you look around, @geko did a lot for this community, just like many other bright developers. I know you want to defend the undefendable, but if anyone is to cut his/her losses, I would hope @geko will not be the one!
Just a few reminders for your viewing pleasure
Current Smart Alarm version is 2.4.2. Please follow this thread for updates: Like many others, I’m interested in using SmartThings as a cheap substitute for a self-monitored alarm system. I tried using “Smart Security” app, but was not very happy with it. So I wrote “Smart Alarm” - a multi-zone virtual alarm panel. It features: Up to 16 independent security zones Unlimited number of sensors (contact, motion, fire, moisture) per zone Two arming modes - Away and Stay Optional entry and exit delays Zones can be designated as Interior (armed in Away mode only) Exterior (armed in both Away and Stay modes) and Alert (always armed) Zone bypass allows quickly exclude select zones Setting of an alarm can activate sirens, turn on light switches, send push notifications and text messages Silent …
Please note that excessive polling of some devices (particularly Zigbee and Z-Wave) may cause network congestion and lead to degraded system performance. Therefore, polling rate faster than 5 minutes is not recommended. The author of this software bears no responsibility for your system performance. Use it at your own risk. I don’t claim originality of the idea, but I needed one badly for some of my projects and didn’t find anything among the shared apps. So there it is… Many SmartThings devices rely on polling to periodically update their status. These devices have ‘polling’ capability and provide poll() function that the SmartThings polling engine calls approximately once every 10 minutes. Unfortunately, SmartThings polling engine proved to be unreliable and sometimes it stops working…
Do you want to receive Sonos-like sound and voice notifications from SmartThings but do not feel like spending several hundred dollars on Sonos? Do you have an old laptop/netbook (or any PC for that matter) gathering dust in a closet? If so, you can put it to a good use as shown in this demo: [VLC Thing Demo: VLC Media Player Controlled by SmartThings] “VLC Thing” is a custom SmartThings device driver that controls VLC media player and emulates Sonos audio player, making it possible to use Sonos smart apps to play sounds and voice (text-to-speech) notifications. VLC is a free and open source cross-platform (Linux/MacOS/Windows) multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVDs, Audio CDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. About Numerous SmartApp The Numerous SmartApp allows you to display numeric values from your SmartThings sensors in the Numerous mobile app for iPhone, iPad or Android. Numerous is a free mobile app that displays numeric values (known as “metrics”) from various sources in real time. The metrics are displayed as tiles on a configurable dashboard. The app allows you to: Re-arrange tiles on the dashboard and group them into pages. Edit a description string for each metric. Set a background image for each tile. View historic data for each metric. View historic data as interactive graphs by switching to landscape mode. Send push notifications for the value changes. Trigger IFTTT rules on the value changes. If you look around, @geko did a lot for this community
Of this I am fully aware, I’ve even paid compliments to that effect to Geko previously but it has gotten to the point that now he does nothing for the community except drag it down and take every opportunity on every thread to trash SmartThings and Samsung.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m okay with constructive criticism/complaints but this isn’t what is happening anymore, it’s out right negativity, even himself attacking various members of ST staff implying they’re sell outs and his past does not excuse him from his behavior in the present.
He flags one of my posts because he was “offended” when I said he had a chip on his shoulder, which isn’t actually offensive at all but then calls me a fool in another thread. Any respect I had for him in the past has been completely diminished all by his own doing.
Perhaps it’s time to leave each other alone? Or at least take it to PMs?
Guys,
While I appreciate all the passion, everyone is entitled to their opinions and allowed to have a voice on this community. I do however have a “be nice” policy. No matter which side of the argument you fall on you can have a constructive conversation with each other.
I will close this thread if the conversation doesn’t become constructive.
To lighten the mood a little bit, I am adding a funny gif. Enjoy
