I have noticed that when I add certain types of devices to my network, instead of showing up as the actual device type they show up as a generic sensor.
Specifically I’m using some first alert smoke and CO detectors. I also have a whole pile of old monoprice motion sensors. All of those devices were working fine but anytime I add a new one they show up as a generic Z-Wave sensor with a whole host of functions that aren’t actually there.
I am unable to change the device type or driver for whatever reason in the app. Maybe I need to use the web app for that? I’d love some advice on how to fix this please.
How does that work exactly? I need to ask someone to add drivers? It’s strange that these devices have been working previously, even under the new groovy based system. It’s only when I delete them and read them that I have this problem.
For example right now my two other first alert alarms are working fine - it’s only the new one that I added it doesn’t seem to want to recognize.
Exactly what do I need to grab and who do I need to provide it to and how? Sorry for the silly questions.
My apologies, I meant to say the edge system in my previous post. My hub has quite a few drivers involved including one that’s in use for the other smoke detector that’s the same. It’s a smoke detector driver. But I don’t have the option to use that one.
Count the number of drivers and post that number. You can find them in the app in the hub tile or you can use the Advanced Web App. It is possible that too many drivers installed can lead to issues.
Also check the fingerprints in the device and see if it matches up with the properly connected one
Thanks @jkp, I’m showing 16 drivers installed on this hub. The “Device ID” shows as just zeros for the device that’s not working. That feels wrong. Here’s a snapshot of the device that is NOT working.
