Cloud integration between SmartThings and Tuya not working?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using Tuya WiFi devices with SmartThings for several years now. Everything was working perfectly until about a week ago. Since then, new devices and new “Tap-to-Run” scenes created in the Tuya app are no longer appearing in SmartThings.

I don’t think it’s a compatibility issue because I performed a test: I deleted a working device (smart plug) from the SmartThings app, and it failed to reappear in the “Unassigned Room.” I’ve tried refreshing the integration under the “Linked Services” tab in the app settings, but that didn’t help either.

Interestingly, any Tuya devices or “Tap-to-Run” scenes that were added before this issue continue to work without any problems. Furthermore, new devices show up in Google Home immediately. I even tried creating a completely new Home in SmartThings and re-linking my Tuya account there, but only two out of my six supported devices showed up.

Is anyone else experiencing this, or is it just me?

I just did a couple tests.

  1. I created a new tap-to-run in the Tuya app and used the SmartLife integration and the new device showed up in SmartThings. This is how I always do it.

  2. I synced my Tuya app to a TEST ST location I created using the Tuya integration. Some but not all of my devices showed up in SmartThings. None of my tap-to-run automations showed up.

So it seems the SmartLife integration is working but the Tuya integration has issues. So try leaving your devices in the Tuya app but try it with the SmartLife integration.

In case you didn’t know Tuya and SmartLife are the same company.

@Paul_Oliver Yeah, I know they’re the same company. In the past (at least as far as I remember), you couldn’t add Tuya devices to SmartThings via the SmartLife integration, so I didn’t even think about trying it :slight_smile: Clearly, things have changed quite a bit over the years. I’ll just stick with this integration from now on. Thanks a lot for the help!
