I’m a new user trying setup he hub. It won’t setup via Ethernet after repeated attempts following the troubleshooter. So I set it up via WiFi…which worked correctly.
Now I would like to switch it back to Ethernet. I find info on how to do it the otherway ( Ethernet to WiFI) but can’t find how to do it the from WiFi to ethernet. Attempts to just do it by winging it don’t work.
I’ve tried that… fully expecting it would work. but it doesn’t for me. Not only doesn’t the entry change in SmartThings, but if I go to my router and block WiFi to the hub, I lose connection. I expected it at least to fail over to Ethernet.
Yes, they are. However the hub is marked as "offline"in the app. When I run the offline diagnostics on the hub, I get the result “A problem was found…couldn’t connect to the Smartthings Cloud”
“How to solve …Try removing rhe device from SmartThings and rhen add it again”
Anything you can tell us about your home network? Type of Router? Any settings that could be blocking traffic? Plugging it into the Router or a switch? Does it show in the Router as a connected device?
Yes, I’ve changed the cable and the port with no success.
One iodd behaviour though, after changing cables, the hub was marked as online for a while in the android app… when I moved to the Window app, it was stlll offline and went offline in the android app when I looked at it again.
I’ve noticed a difference in my router connections.
Now I;'m seeing an offline Ethernet connection and my WiFi connectiln nlylists the MAC address…previously it showed the same as the Ethernet connection – hubv3-03021734484

Aeotec support replied : All you need to do is connect the hub to Ethernet connection, and the hub will prioritize Ethernet connection and default back to WiFi if for some reason Ethernet is disconnected.
This however is contrary to my experience:
When the WiFI is unblocked, the hub is connected to SmartThings. And works as expected.
When it is blocked, the hub becomes disconnected. When I unblock the WiFi, the hub automatically reconnets. I believe this contradicts both my expectations.and the Aeotec response.
I am.not connected to a Guest internet account nor to a network with restrictions on the Ethernet —as far as I can tell.
