So, there is a lot to unpack here.
You mentioned Nest. Nest use to work well with others, but especially now they have their own alarm system/hub I doubt they will continue to work well with others. They don’t have a reason to add interrogations, and in some cases it can confuse customer’s (I work for ADT, and Nest thermostat does work with Pulse. But they can only do very limited things within Pulse, and any schedules must be done in the Nest app – which connects them to everything Nest. I’ve had customers be very confused about this). So yes, SmartThings connect to limited devices. They should work on fixing gaps so customer’s can have perfect integration’s.
For example, like with camera’s. ADT and Samsung is working on a “unique camera solution” for the SmartThings ADT Hub. That’s them finding a weak point, and fixing it with their own solution.
There is not much SmartThings can do about this.

From allowing “integrations” with other Home Automation Hubs maybe. As these companies begin to create and expand their own ecosystems they are going to want to lock things down, and select only strategic partnerships.
For you to say, they don’t have a reason to add integrations, lol, that’s total hog wash. Have you seen all of the official integrations that “Works with Nest”? These integrations allow them to strategically align with specific companies to further expand their ecosystem outward with 3rd parties for a more complete integration, and should they create their own product and they are aligned with a company that offers the same, then I can see them eliminating that now competing product (example: release of Nest Hello Doorbell and partner Skybell perhaps). They have partnered with Yale (experts in that industry) to compliment the new Nest Secure.
Now that they have their own Security System, i absolutely see them severing ties with other Alarm systems they previously integrated with. Now that SmartThings has the ADT Security system, do you think they are going to “officially” align with Nest to allow that integration? Maybe from an individual set of devices, but they aren’t allowing an integration of the alarm system. That would just be silly.from an economic standpoint with a competing product / company.
As for Nest and Home automation, they are officially supported with Abode. So I would expect that alignment to continue to blossom versus allowing every Home Automation hub available be able to integrate with them. Strategy.
I think that’s a fair price.
It all depends on how this switch compares to the GE motion switch currently out. If you contrast that to the current difference in switch prices, then you would price it approximately $6-10 dollars cheaper than the GE product. I would say between $45-50 dollars, but I wouldn’t buy it unless it was $45.
I’d buy one at that price.
The GE switch doesn’t have a light sensor
Sure it does, that’s the “light sensing” configuration option. They just don’t expose the lux sensor to zwave. ( I don’t know whether the Zooz will or not.)

I don’t think anyone would buy an occupancy switch that kept turning the light on during the daytime.

The light sensor in the Zooz switch is Z-Wave. The switch also works a scene controller and is equipped with the latest S2 security standard.
But the main difference is in how it will integrate to multi-point control circuits. The current version of Zooz switches already don’t require a dedicated add-on switch but you need to open both boxes and change the wiring. With the new generation of switches, including the Smarter Switch, you’ll only need to wire the Zooz switch in the box with power/neutral in it, leaving the other ones as they are. That will solve the problem of automating a 4-way (or 5-way) circuit with line and load in 2 different boxes for example.

That’s done all the time - bathrooms, dark hallways, especiallly in comercial buildings.
It was renamed “Link” and released for the Nvidia shield TV box and is available for purchase. Why it was not made available for the Samsung TV i do not know. However, i can assure you i am using one and in fact they simply stuck a new label on top of the old which you can peel off and see the extend label.
