I’ve had some funny things going on with my smart things app. I’ve never had a dongle device, but it always worked like I did. It’s now telling me it’s shut off. I deleted my ex off the app but then I found that he added the TV a second time saying my sex TV. Excuse the language. This person beat me and is stalking me. I’m just wondering if they can use this app in any way, to still control or do things with my apartment, or find my location through my phone?
Did you delete him as a location member? If so, he shouldn’t have access anymore unless he knows your credentials and you don’t have a second-factor authentication method configured (for example, a text message with a code or a notification on Samsung devices).
To verify he’s not a member anymore:
- Tap on the location name in the left corner of the app.
- Select “Manage Locations”
- Choose the location in the list (It might not appear a list if you only have one, I’m not sure)
- Enter the option “Members” at the bottom
And, regardless of all else, CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD! (Sorry to shout. ) If you don’t have 2-factor authentication enabled yet, do it!
Good luck with your situation. It can be scary and, hopefully, you have support with your recovery…
I second this.
If you keep seeing weird behavior after you confirmed he’s no longer a location member and changed your password, I can raise a report for the engineering team to see what’s going on.
I wish you strength and good luck as well.
