[BROKEN] NST Manager v5.0 (Does Not Work Anymore)

I am so close to pull the trigger and get Ecobee. But I am so deep in Nest ecosystem, is not even funny.

It’s going to very much depend on how badly Google screws up Nest but they need to reduce the price of the Thermostat and the Protect.

I still like Nest because my energy company gives you $150 credit for each Nest Thermostat you install which means that this house where they pointlessly installed THREE thermostats in ~1,700sqft I get $450 bill credit, plus you get $30 or $35/year if you allow all of the “Energy Rush Hour” stuff, almost always happen when we’re out.

So for me it literally pays for itself within a year if you snag one of them at the usual ~$180 black friday price.

They cannot screw it any more than they already did. They killed it. I am holding on for as long as I can not to migrate, but I expect any day when my wife opens the app and agrees to migrate by accident. LOL

Yeah I’ll hold off migrating as long as I can as well.

Supposedly Google will have a replacement for Nest’s APIs but… you know, they should have probably had that ready before they announced they were going to axe everything…

Ok, I wanted to update my 3.x version of Nest Manager so I uninstalled everything so I could install the latest from GitHub (after my GH integration) which worked without issue. I went to the classic app, Marketplace, MyApps to install the NST Manger. I was able to login to my Nest account (I didn’t change it to a Google account) but when I press ‘Allow’ I get the error ‘Oops! We’ve encountered an error. Please try again’ which I did but continue to get that error.

So my question is:
Am I screwed? I got to the last piece but because of Google’s shitty changes I cannot complete the integration?

Thanks

Based on how fast they reversed their decision to force everyone to migrate to Google login on August 31st, it leads me to believe that they seriously thought the Actions API is all they needed. Time will tell if they have any intentions to allow Google Nest to play nice with others.

That’s it! Once you disconnected the integration, there is no way to reconnect it.

There were two things users were warned about. 1) migrating their nest account to a google account. 2) removing any existing integrations.

Game over. No new authorizations are allowed…

Should have just kept my 3.x.

Google sucks and they are going to destroy Nest.

I let the guy talk me into the nicest one they make :frowning:
The nest doesn’t play well with the 80+ variable stages of the system.

Plus i really like the S30 thermostat, it supports HomeKit

Did this mean you’ve given up on the nest now?

I wouldn’t say given up… I still have 4 protects and 4 cams. They just stopped innovating.

I’ve started moving away from the cams slowly and using Wyze cams because i’m tired of subscription fees.

I need some help regarding the NST manager. I unknowingly migrated my nest app login to Google and from then onwards, my smart things NST manager app has been giving me a deluge of notifications on the authorization. Please see screenshot attached. As I understand from posts above, most likely the integration is not working. Hence I want to uninstall this app, however, smart things app cannot be removed, as it says “unexpected error”. Please recommend the best method to remove this and suggest any alternative I can use now to control thermostat. Many thanks!

You have to remove from the IDE. Failing that put a ticket to support to remove.

As for controlling the nest now you’ve migrated your account to Google… you’re out of luck. No way to do it yet.

Since your not using NST manager you should contact the horrible person who wrote the software you are using

After upgrading to the v3 hub , I had to reinstall nest manager and when I get to the login for nest ,it tells me that I’ve migrated to google. Is there a work around?

Yeah, buy Ecobee or a different thermostat that allows integrations with other platforms. Unfortunately, it’s game over for you -:frowning:

Oh well…

This is increasingly becoming such a sad freaking thread. What in the actual F were Google thinking?! They have really been all over the place with their products in the last couple of years, even more insane than normal…

Ah yes you got the really really sexy Lennox stuff. I just got the “semi” sexy Lennox stuff, with 2 stage heat pump (which Nest can handle) and a 4 stage fan which Nest cannot handle but the control board on the inside unit has been automatically handling the fan somehow, ramping up and down as needed even with the Nest.

Is it possible to extract the authorization token somehow?
