Baseboard heat heater thermostat - what are best options?

I see this has not been discussed in a while. I have baseboard heaters with separate thermostats that I cam considering upgrading to SmartThings-controllable thermostats. I have StelPro STZW402+ working great in another location, but am interested to see if there are other options. I am currently running SmartThings via an older SmartThings wifi hub (so I’m not sure if Matter is supported if that even “matters” haha). Things I am considering/questions:

  1. Anyone using the Sinope TH1124WF? Do I need Matter for this?
  2. Are there new problems that anyone has had with Stelpro STZW402+ that I have just missed somehow? I have not had any trouble with them in SmartThings for years (there was a brief time where things went crazy but then all resolved). Stelpro still listing this as “easy gateway integration including SmartThings.”
  3. If I go with the tried-and-true StelPro STZW402+ which is only z-wave, is that a good move for future-proofing? It seems like even if ST as a platform were to go away, z-wave is ubiquitous. and I could move to some other platform that supports z-wave- which would seem like all of them.

Thanks for any input folks could offer.
