I know it is a different model, but what’s the firmware version?
Read this from bottom to top:
It is very strange that, while SmartThings and Aqara are supposedly working very closely together to advance Matter camera support, we users seem to be the only ones noticing that not even the most basic functions actually work.
The Aqara firmware is clearly broken, the SmartThings Edge drivers are unfinished - not even a dedicated Matter Camera driver, but the Matter Switch driver - and we are the ones doing the debugging here.
Just think about that for a moment: the current “stable” camera firmware contains a showstopper bug. And the Matter Switch Edge driver is still very much a construction site.
There is no indication whatsoever that this is being worked on with any real urgency. Maybe by the end of the year, it will finally be possible to unbox an Aqara Matter camera, connect it to SmartThings, and use the basic functions one would reasonably expect.
Matter camera support apparently could not be announced fast enough. It had to happen immediately, because being first to market was clearly the priority. Meanwhile, Home Assistant is taking the time to finish things properly - and may actually be able to show something more convincing than fake screenshots in marketing material.
Yes, I’m disappointed.
