Aqara FP2 cannot be discovered in SmartThings (TV Hub and Mesh Network)

Hi,

I can confirm my forum registered email is the same as I use for SmartThings.

I attempted to join the FP2 sensor at 22/10/24 @ 21:20 and cancelled the process @ 21:23.

I am in uk so times are GMT+1.

I will now dump logs and allow access as instructed.

Cheers!

I was talking about the logs generated when following your steps (dump hub logs).

Sounds like you can access them? Or do I need to email them to the build email address?

Also, I noticed my query was directed to this TV Hub and Mesh Network thread. While I do have a mesh network at home (Eero home network), I do not have a TV hub. I have a standalone hub connected to my Eero router. Does this change anything?

Thanks for your help with this - really appreciate it!

Ah ok, there’s no need for you to do something else if you submitted the logs.

Yes, that’s the name I assigned because you all have the same issue but the conditions are either in a TV Hub or a Mesh network (in your case) don’t worry about that it’s only to have a reference on what is being discussed here.

Awesome thanks! Let me know if you need any other info. Excited to get the Aqara FP2 set up and running.

Could be a driver issue, not a discovery issue in your case. Fixed driver should be available tomorrow.

Roger that - thank you for the update.

I’ll wait for your signal tomorrow that the driver has been updated/fixed.

Curious - how do I update the driver? Do I need to do it myself or will the hub automatically do it?

Hi, @tryintoautomate, @DesertStorm
The engineering team mentioned the new version of the driver was released yesterday but it can take 12-24 hours to propagate. You can see in the Driver’s details the Version, it should start with Yesterday’s date: 2024-10-22.

Hub’s details > Menu (Three-dot symbol in the upper-right corner) > Driver > Aqara Presence Sensor

If you already have this version, please try to reinstall the device

Like this (directors cut - extended version):

Hi,

I can confirm the new driver is installed on my hub and the FP2 sensor is still not being detected and joined to ST.

Cheers.

ok, can you send the Hub logs of this new attempt, please?

Also, if you remember, an approximate time of when you tried to install it.

Hi,

I have tried as requested to connect the sensor to the ST hub.

I have dumped the logs as requested also.

The join attempt was 23/10/24 @ 19:50 and I cancelled the attempt at 19:53 (uk time gmt+1).

Cheers

I can also confirm that the update did not seem to work for me.

Current driver installed: 2024-10-22T20:52:42.460912996

I tried adding the presence sensor but I get stuck at the “Prepare Your Device: Please connect the presence sensor PF2…” screen.

Is there anything else I should try?

I hope you don’t mind, @nayelyz .

@tryintoautomate @DesertStorm

  1. Install this driver:

https://bestow-regional.api.smartthings.com/invite/Kr2zQqZ6GXMA

Login, Accept, Enroll, Available Drivers, Install

  1. Remove device in the Aqara Home app
  2. Press the button on the device for 15 seconds
  3. Add device to the Aqara Home app
  4. In ST app: add device: scan for devices

(Steps 2, 3, 4 shouldn’t be necessary, but who knows…

If you have any other beta or testing FP2 drivers installed, you have to delete them first.)

Description of the Change

The mDNS service name of the actual Aqara FP2 is “_Aqara-FP2. _tcp".

if the search parameter is “_Aqara-FP2. _tcp”, the driver is executed in V3 and SmartThings Station, but not in the hub on the monitor.
if the search parameter is “_aqara-fp2. _tcp”, the driver is executed in the hub on the monitor, but not in V3 and SmartThings Station.
if the search parameter contains both “_Aqara-FP2. _tcp” and “_Aqara-fp2. _tcp”, the driver runs well in both v3, station, and hub on the monitor.

fp2: add lowercase search parameter by hdlee27 ¡ Pull Request #1717 ¡ SmartThingsCommunity/SmartThingsEdgeDrivers ¡ GitHub

That actually worked,

Added 2 out of 3 aqara FP2’s pretty instant , logs are flowing about discovery as well, will check whats wrong about the 3rd one. Thanks.

Great news! It works!

I can confirm that all I did was install the driver on the hub then added it using the normal add accessory process. I did not have to remove/reset etc. the device to have it successfully enrolled into ST.

Chefs Kiss!

I’m not involved in the development of the driver.

I guess this is no longer related to smarthub issue on TV’s , but it seems information from Aqara FP2 on https://my.smartthings.com/ and using smartthings app is different - which means its not exposed to home assistant.

In smartthings app I can see not only general presence, but also presence by zones (as you know aqara FP2 can do that), but in https://my.smartthings.com/ only general presence is seen.

You mean this?

It is like it is… basic functionality.

yes. sadly there are no zones, that you can setup in the aqara app. which makes the biggest competetive advantage of FP2 non relavant

The ST integration supports zones, of course.

If it doesn’t work for you, let us discuss it in the original thread:

You’ll find a lot of screenshots where you can see how the zones are presented in the ST app.
