Android Auto in Smartthings hangs

When I click on Android Auto in the Smartthings app it always freezes (The Android Auto part, not the Smartthings app itself)

I tried restarting my phone (OnePlus 12) but that doesn’t help.

Android Auto is working as expected on my Pixel 6a Phone running Android 15 and my Lenovo P11 tablet running Android 14. I am in the northeast US.

Does it just having a spinning icon when you go into Android Auto or does it actually freeze? Ever since the latest SmartThings app update for Android (Version 1.8.26.21) it has been bugged. I reported it and they told me they found the issue and should be fixed within the next version of the SmartThings App (Version 1.8.27.xx or later).

It has a spinning icon for one second, then it freezes…

Mine just spins indefinitely. My family has 4 devices (3-Samsung S24 Ultras with Android 14 and a Samsung Tab S7 with Android 13) and they all have the spinning icon. It started in SmartThings version 1.8.26.21. I had oddly gotten the update on my Phone early as Samsung mistakenly sent out the update to me in the USA a week early when it wasn’t supposed to be. It was at that time supposed to be sent only to the Korean market. When I got the update early I noticed this problem and uninstalled and reinstalled the app an hour later. When I went to reinstall it though Samsung had removed this update the app store and I was reverted back to SmartThings version 1.8.21.28 as I could no longer get the newest version again. When I opened the older version after reinstalling it Android Auto worked fine again. Then when they released the new version aka 1.8.26.21 again a week later for everyone this time Android Auto had bugged out again. So, I can for sure tell you it’s a bug with the newest version.

Now you could uninstall the App then go online and find an APK of version 1.8.21.28 and install it and see if that fixes it. But, if you do, be warned that you want try to get it from a legit source as you could get malware or a virus from an illegitimate source and I don’t take responsibility if something were to go wrong. Also make sure if you do downgrade to an older version don’t update the app to the newest version as it will more than likely bug out again unless you definitely don’t need it right away and/or wait for a fix. I was told by Customer Support that it should be fixed in the next version 1.8.27.xx (which we don’t have a date on when it will be released), but as many on this forum will probably tell you take customer supports word with a grain of salt.

I can confirm that version 1.8.27.22, which was just released for Samsung devices fixed the Android Auto issue. It should be available soon on the play store. Hopefully it will fix this issue for you.
