Try the zones link I posted above
I tried it says call for stock and when I called them they said it’s out of stock and won’t be restocked.
Amazon has the Smartthings Home Monitoring Kit which includes the hub.
thanks, I live in canada and it would come out to $260 CAD for me. I’d prefer the hub v3. I currently have the smartthings wifi combo but even with 3 of them i am not happy with the wifi performance. I bought a new router but was dissapointed to learn that the smartthings wifi could not be used as a hub only and the wifi had to be activated. thank you for the suggestions really just want a v3 smarrtthings hub either by samsung or aeotec.
Really is a pity that whatever deal Samsung/SmartThings is working with their new partner for North America has now missed Black Friday and probably now the whole holiday season. Not to mention the gap in the marketplace for hubs and sensors that is deteriorating any confidence that is already wavering during this whole platform transition. It’s becoming really hard to recommend SmartThings as a whole seeing the severe lack of executing to plan that upper management has demonstrated.
I know nothing about this company but they indicate the have the Smartthings hub in stock.
Per that site…
SMARTTHINGS HUBS AND ACCESSORIES ARE ONLY AVAILABLE FOR SALE ON THIS SITE TO OWNERS OR PURCHASERS OF A BLUMSAFE. ALL OTHER ORDERS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
PLEASE PLACE YOUR BLUMSAFE IN YOUR CART FIRST AND THEN PLACE THIS SMARTTHINGS DEVICE IN YOUR CART.
Sorry about that. No wonder they still have stock.
It’s not the lack of hardware that’s the problem,
It’s the lack of transparent communication about anything that’s the real issue.
I agree that lack of product is eroding confidence in the platform. However, I found that Home Depot has stock online (as of today).
Samsung SmartThings Hub 3rd Generation - Smart Home Automation Hub-GP-U999SJVLGDA - The Home Depot
Not really

It was there when I checked yesterday. But out of stock now with no backorder indication.
so it looks like they must’ve just found some stock and put it up until it was all sold.
I am amazed that Samsung/SmartThings has not communicated any sort of strategy/timing for North America. It is almost like they want users to have to pick a different platform. Seems like a strange business strategy to me.
Or they prefer to service hub optional configurations. There’s still a lot you can do With smartthings without a hub, And of course if you have Samsung appliances or televisions, you can do that too. But with August offering Wi-Fi locks and all the many Wi-Fi switches and pocket sockets, Plus the hue bridge for RGB lighting, the only category which is really weak is sensors. And you can bridge to some of those through Alexa routines or Ifttt.
So while most of the power users in this forum are used to thinking of hub first, It’s not the only way to go, particularly for those with just a few simple use cases. ![]()
That definitely seems like where they’re heading… Although that is very counter to all of the ‘more local processing’ that ST has been alluding to over the past 12 months. Hard to see how more local processing is still part of the plan, when Samsung has exited the hardware side of home automation - unless all WASH hubs are required to run Samsung provided firmware? ![]()
Maybe they don’t have a strategy. The current issues scream lack of executive leadership.
This is actually beginning to reek of the 2016 Samsung TV Smartthings dongle fiasco… Same type situation…being strung along for months with nothing
The hubless option works ok for things like TV’s and some appliances that need internet access to function, but if you start loading a ton of sensors on wifi it will kill wifi performance. Wifi isn’t designed to operate allot of devices and still deliver good performance. It is basically setting the platform up for failure as it starts to grow.
Yes and no. Yes as of currently available technology. No if Project CHIP and WiFi 6 deliver as promised.
Also remember that smartthings has said that their typical customer has 15 or fewer devices. That should be fine with Wi-Fi.
And… There are quite a few options that let you add Zigbee or Bluetooth sensors via a Wi-Fi bridge. The Phillips hue bridge is obvious, but you can also add a Xioami bridge to HomeKit, for example.
As of yet smartthings does not recognize accessories connected to a bridge, but that might come in the future.
I know this means the setup is only “smartthings hub optional“, not truly “hub optional“ because most people will think of these bridges as hubs even though technically they don’t have to be.
But one possible future is Samsung stops trying to be a cloud-based Insteon And instead goes for a more direct HomeKit competitor, with Samsung brand smart appliances and TVs folded in.
I’m not saying they will do that, I’m just saying I could see that as a legitimate business model. ![]()
Interesting. However that wouldn’t explain why there is no US option whilst there is an Aeotech UK and EU option now available. Why go to the trouble in those markets if you don’t intend to do the same in the US market? I would suspect a contractual delay or manufacturing glitch with whoever the US partner is.
