An Update Regarding our Hardware

Maybe, but it’s also true that there’s been a stronger DIY zwave market in Europe (Fibaro, Vera, Zipato, etc) and Aeotec May just have been more interested there.

I am not happy about this… I’ve purchased Aeotec in the past and their hardware is JUNK!!! I tried a few sensors, remotes, buttons, and stuff to save a buck over actual samsung sensors and less then a year later, buying samsung ones as the Aeotec didnt last or shorted out and fried the boards, eating a ton of batteries, or just flat out no longer registering. On Samsung’s website, they no longer sells their own hubs or sensors or items, they are all gone and no where to buy in any store… Samsung, do I need to throw the thousands i’ve spent on my setup into the trash??? This is complete crap that they are not communicating ANYTHING!!! I am so disapionted as smartthings was one of the reason I went with samsung smart tv’s as well due to smartthings built in and integration into my entire automation and my wife and my Samsung phones (been a custom since the S2 and entire NOTE series).

SAMSUNG, I want assurances you are not sunsetting our smartthings and ditching home automation!!!

The thing to remember is that going forward technically smartthings could be hub agnoatic. The new api could actually allows for that. Samsung could make a deal and work with wink, hubitat, and any other zwave/ zigbee hubs.

Also dont forget anything you currently have can possibly be integrated with thise other hubs without to much hassel. I was able to move every item i had to hubitat except for the ADT Alarm dual branded pieces.

North America and Australia added to the deal.

I think this is good news. I have been concerned that if Europe and the US had different partners the features that might start to diverge significantly. this should help with that.

That said, it looks like there may be a supply chain gap for another couple of months:

The new products are available for sale to business clients now with delivery reaching full capacity in the first quarter 2021.

Also you can look at user manual for SmartThings Hub.

Check all sections. There is Aleksa and Google integration, WebCore etc…

Just noticed “UK SmartThings Hub (V3)” (SmartThings branded, not Aeotec) in stock on Amazon.co.uk - “Dispatched from and sold by Amazon.” - £99

Hello Smartthings

Its now December and there seems to be no stock of any Smartthings devices in the UK, no motion sensors , multipurpose sensors , etc. . I have 170+ devices connected to my Samsung Hub , I hope you are not discontinuing ? Whats going on?

Rebrand but no stock

Thanks @jkp I hadnt seen that site , I am definitley not going to mention the ‘B’ word on here  Euros -> GBP is never a good thing and on January 1st we could be subject to import taxes. But thank you , its good to know there is stock out there. Maybe its just simply that the stock in stuck in a lorry in a shipping port somewhere. I’ve bookmarked that site, thank you

I don’t think consumers can buy directly from Z-wave europe. I believe they are only a distributor. Vesternet sells them to the public

Yep. :disappointed_relieved:

From the homepage:

We solely sell to re-sellers.

Unless they’ve changed that with the smartthings deal, but I don’t think so.

But the good news is that the Aeotec hub is starting to show up in some of their distribution channels.

You can order it through Amazon.de , dispatched and sold by Amazon, with stock expected next week.

EU MODEL: GP-AEOHUBV3EU

Amazon.co.UK also has it listed, dispatched and sold by Amazon, but delivery is not expected until mid January.

UK model GP-AEOHUBV3UK with type G plug included:

Also, can I just say this is the weirdest smart home product picture from a manufacturer I think I’ve ever seen:

Who lives there? I mean, really, who lives there?

They must have bored a hole in their wall to hide the cords.

I sent that picture to an IEEE friend of mine, who sent back this:

Agreed JD, dark wood is sooo 1982, I like the paper though

So where the heck are we supposed to buy a hub in the USA? It’s been a few months now that you haven’t been able to buy a hub and there’s been no replacement option available either. Are we just SOL if our hub dies or if we need to setup another hub at a new location? I mean, SmartThings can’t be this incompetent can they?

And before anyone chimes in, I’m not hating on SmartThings - I actually am fine with the platform, but the lack of hub availability is just ridiculous.

I actually found a few on the shelf in our mall’s physical Amazon store, including all the ST sensors. I probably should have bought one.
