Alternative iOS presence?

I use these routines for each phone for presence. They are Not local.

VP x is a virtual presence device and I then have routines for each phone one for on and one for off, someone is present, no one is present, all phones are present, and no phones are present. When an entry point is opened all VP x’s are turned on which forces a presence check All of these are local and it has been working without any issues since I set it up.

If this is something that you want to try but don’t quite follow what I described I could post my routines

Thanks. I may have to go down something similar as I’m having issues with my iPhones presence after this new iOS update.

Having said that, I’ll still have issues because I still need my phones presence to be functioning correctly :frowning:

I think I’ve made things worse.
I’ve deleted my phone within ST in a hope to get it working but how do I add it again?

Menu > Settings > Get location for this iPhone

Yeah tried that but I suspect this is my older phone from a while back. That’s not the name of my iPhone.

I’ve toggled this on and off and the little presence icon isn’t anywhere to be seen.
Very confused here.

Login to IDE while you can and see f you can remove any older phone presence sensors there. Or ST API Browser is another option.

Yeah just did that. I think this might be the correct phone but I no longer see my presence device within the ST app. Did we ever see that? Maybe the ones I seen previous were the life 360 ones? Confused.

?

When a device is chosen for presence through the official features (and it is the device which was running the app where you made the selection), there’s no longer any indicator in the app itself, which is actually pretty annoying.

The only thing that happens is that it shows up as an option for “member location“ when you create a routine.

If you had something which showed up in the app itself, it may be that that was part of the old groovy infrastructure and is no longer available and that’s what you have to replace.

Unless there’s something special available on certain phone models that I’m not aware of.

Yeah it just have been the life 360 smart app that created 2 presence icons for me and my wife.

OK, you can’t get those back in the new architecture. You can create a virtual device to serve as a proxy for presence, and then it will show in the app. A lot of people do that. But you’ll have to have a routine to turn it on, and a routine to turn it off.

Yeah I’m not too fussed about having the icons back.
My iPhone presence isn’t currently working for now ever since this new iOS update.
I’ve correctly created the correct routines but they are not triggering when I leave now.

What VP sensor are you using? What triggers the conditions “at home” and “away from home”?

I use [ST Edge] vEdge Creator: a virtual device generator for end users

Away:

Arrive Home:

I use a lux sensor and a virtual dimmer to determine whether it’s night, daytime, twilight, etc. so you would need to modify to suit your needs

Disregard!.. Found my mistake!

For anyone having presence issues it is a good idea to check your devices in your actual Samsung account:

https://account.samsung.com/membership/contents/device/device-gate

It lists all your devices ever connected to your login, you need to look at it for all users.

What on earth is going on.
Issues with presence since updating iOS app so I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled in the hopes of sorting this. Kicked up the app and this pops up?

I go into settings, which is the ‘get location from this phone’ and it’s already selected as it’s always been.

I also use vEdge Creator as the virtual presence sensor for people in my house. I then use people’s phones as the trigger for the sensor. When Life 360 was available for presence detection, it worked great. With it gone, phone presence works great on my Android to detect presence and trigger the sensor. However, my GF’s iPhone is wonky. It will detect her departure, but never detects her arrival. Makes it hard for routines that require all members be present or when I’m not home but she is.

You mentioned in the phonetracker readme that you have an executable to run for the phonetracker… can I get that somewhere? I’m having problems with the py script. My python installation was missing the requests package. When I finally figured out how to install that, now I’m getting trace back errors. I figured it might be easier for me to just run the exe.

Disregard!.. Found my mistake!
