My wife and I both have iPhone 14 Pros running iOS 16.1.2. Looking for the steps to get them set up as presence sensors. I’ve read some threads, didn’t see a consensus of what actually works. Perhaps I missed one. Much appreciated!
two options:
- use the presence in the ST app
- Or use iPhone’s presence and HomeKit, if you have either a HomePod mini or AppleTV. With a cheap HomeKit Meross plug, you can use it in both platforms. Set up an automation in homekit to turn on/off the plug for arriving/leaving. In ST, create a Routine to react to the state of the plug.
both work well for me but “some” users have issues with the ST presence sensor.

to setup presence in the ST app… go to Menu > Settings (the cog) and enable get Location for this iPhone.
There is also a homekit version of the Kasa smart plug that could be used.

I’m not home so I just set up the presence in the ST app. I then created a routine to turn on a few lights when I arrive back home. Hopefully it will work. Really appreciate the information!
