All Zwave devices stopped connecting a few months ago tried everything

Hi all. New here, I came from Wink to smartthings. Most of everything was working with my Smartthings hub 3rd Gen. Except all my GoControl sensors. Anyway all of my zwave devices where discovered, GE Link bulbs, Leviton plug-in dimmer and switches and Kwikset Zwave door lock. A few months ago, everything stopped working zwave stopped working. I tried everything I read on google.

Reboot hub. Exclude devices. Reset device. Remove all devices and reset hub. I took the last one down to the basics. Fully removed and reset hub then tried one of each type of device: GE Link bulb, nope, remove reset. Leviton plug-in dimmer, nope remove and reset multiple times. Kwikset zwave door lock, nope, remove and rest. I’ve reset the hub many times, removing from my account and adding back in. Nothing worked. Same error for several months, device hasn’t updated its status. I’ve boxed everything up but wanted one last ditch effort. I searched the forums and couldn’t find anything. I’ve seen others post about zwave issues and didn’t work for me. Remove iOS app and download and install and login, no devices, add hub, add zwave device still broken. Zwave repair, still broken. Seems like anything zwave is dead. I can add and remove zwave devices all day long. Smartthings app can recognize the device but no control or status updates, like if the bulb was on or off, or the lock was open or closed.

few questions to get the ball rolling:

  • can you provide an idea around what date z-wave stopped working?
  • did all z-wave devices stop at same time or did they start falling off-line at different times.
  • Any z-wave devices currently work for you?
  • can you provide us with brand and “model” for the devices?
  • where is your hub located? doubt this is your issue but just checking :slight_smile:

and get rid of the GE Link bulb (zigbee). You will be much happier in the long run.

most likely we will recommend different Edge drivers - may need to remove/ add back some of the devies but model will help us determine that.

how many devices do you have? may be easier to remove them all and add back one at a time to ensure they are working… depends!

Yes all same time.

Correct, with just reset hub no devices, I can add a zwave device but once added, no status or control no matter what type,

  • can you provide us with brand and “model” for the devices?

Kwikset 910 Smartcode zwave deadbolt. Leviton DZPD3 Dimmer switch.

First floor office. Hasn’t been an issue but I tried with the devices on top of the hub but range is likely not the issue.

BTW I didn’t realize the GE Link bulbs where zigbee. Those also stopped at the same time with the same control issue.

exact model number of the hub? just checking… you said v3 but some users have been confused with which hubs are v3 so wanted to verifiy

let’s start with installing some community developed Edge drivers on your hub and switching your devices to them.

Leviton DZPD3 Dimmer switch:
Z-Wave Switch and Child Mc
Channel Invite

Kwikset 910 Smartcode zwave deadbolt:
Z-Wave Lock PH
Channel Invite

once installed, switch the driver for your devices. until they are all switched over, you may not see any changes. If still not working… you may want to remova all the devices and add back… ensure each device works before adding others.

the GE link bulb… consider getting rid of it. They worked OK with Wink but have serious connectivity issues and make for bad repeaters… even with the last firmware that was released for them through Wink.
