All Z-Wave Devices not Working (Jan 2024)

All my Z-Wave devices have stopped working My GE wall switches my GE plugs. I have a few Leviton switches that are not working. Also have first alert. Smoke detector is not working. Pretty much anything that is z-wave is not working. Happened about 2 3 days ago

I’m sure that’s very frustrating. :disappointed_relieved:

A couple of other people have reported some thing similar in the last couple of weeks, but I’m not sure if anyone knows what’s going on.

First step: go to the advanced page of the official web interface to your account and see if there’s anything in the hub details that say the Z wave radio in the hub is not functional.

I have even tried installing the GE drivers that have been recommended and still don’t work. I have a bunch of door sensors and window sensors that are working just fine but those are zigbee. I have one Ge switch that will work from time to time but very slowly. Just one out of seven. I have five Smart switches and none of them work and have about 4 levinto switches and none of them work. If it’s z-wave it’s not working. When I’m in the app it shows no drivers found for Z-Wave devices

To echo what @JDRoberts said, go to the Advanced Web App he referenced and check for:

  • Does the zwaveAvailability characteristic for your hub show “Available”?
  • Is your driverMemoryLimitStatus characteristic “Ok” or something else?
  • Under the Installed Drivers section, do you see Z-Wave drivers installed?
  • Under the Z-Wave section, does the Functional attribute say “True” and are the other attributes populated?

This info will help us point you in the right direction.

Try powering down all the z-wave switches… either at your home’s circuit panel or pulling the air gaps on them for several seconds.

Done that no luck

I’ve also had issues with all my Zwave devices starting maybe about a month ago it feels like. All zwave devices drop off and don’t come back without either a reboot of the hub (smartthings wifi) through the advanced web interface or a physical power reset. The first time it happened I did see that in the advanced web app it said my zwave was not functioning but rebooting the hub fixed that and it hasn’t said that since. I have it work fine for 2-3 days at a time but then end up having to reboot the hub. Sometimes even twice as the devices all pop online and then after a few minutes disconnect again.

And as I was working on restarting my stuff again while typing that reply everything was coming back online and now went offline but it seems to have also taken down Zigbee and lan devices. Currently the hub is saying that zigbee is not functional. Then I refreshed the site and now it says it is functional and everything zwave and zigbee came back online. It’s almost like the hub is crashing or restarting or something. The driver and memory limits and such all report ok.

Same issues for me. Rebooted the hub, repaired zwave. All paramters asked to check looks right.

4 leviton zwave dimmers not online…Buehler???

WOO HOO I’M GETTING THERE. I left my hub unplugged for 2 days. Revisited again today. Did another hard reset. Was able to get some things Exclused. Went outside had an old GE outdoor switch that was dead couldn’t get it to turn on. Finally did and I had 3 device removed? Anyway ever since that went away no more ghost devices either. Looks like I’m ready to start hooking everything back up. Stick with the v2 hub or just upgrade to the aeotech one?

stick with the V2. only reason to get the Aeotec is if you want a thread radio.

Thanks I have everything working but 2 very old device. An old battery ulitech alarm and an old GE outdoor switch. I left my hub unplugged for 2 days. Plugged it in and decided to give it another chance. Got a few more things excluded but still had 2 ghost devices. While I was trying to exclude the outdoor switch it was dead wouldn’t even turn on and off. Finally after playing around it and getting it to come on it said 3 devices excluded. What? Rain network repair no unknown devices. Would a bad switch be causing all my other z wave device not to be working. Anyway cancelled my hub i had coming and returning all the new stuff I brought and not starting over. Only question I have now is why one of my Leviton switches show up twice. Once as a switch and once as a zigbee dimmer. I have 4 of those devices and only one is doing this? Maybe it’s a dimmer. I try and delete the zigbee but every time i turn on the other switch it pops back up.

since Friday, all the zwave devices no longer work for me, I have already tried restarting, repairing, and reconnecting them to no avail, at most they connect but they don’t work. there’s news I’m annoyed. or month a new problem.

Samsung and the SmartThings system is not on my most favored nation list right now.

I am moving to hubitat since the memory in my controller used to be sufficient, but i am not about to drop $300 to find out if it is going to behave so poorly.
