My apologies as this will be a lot of text, but I have been having a lot of issues with Smartthings find/Samsung Find. To keep it as short as I can, I have 4 devices; A Samsung S10e, Galaxy Buds 2, Galaxy Watch Active 2, and a Galaxy Book 4 360. All of these devices are supposed to be able to be found on a map in Smartthings find/Samsung Find according to Smartthings support (By the way I contacted support SEVERAL times and they were no help so I reside here). The problem is that they all have their own issues to do with the location based tracking that means I cant find them on the map. #1 Lets start with the phone, the S10e has the smartthings and samsung find app that should let it be found. While the phone can find itself, my galaxy book cant find the phone on the smartthings app installed on my galaxy book, which should work since the web version says verizon allows it to be found on the app. When ever you TRY to find the device, it spins and spins, and says it could not find the device. #2 The Galaxy watch active is actually a very strange situation where, while both registered and logged into my samsung account, when I open up smartthings on my phone and push āFind Deviceā on the screen with the battery information and everything, it opens Smartthings find and quickly has an error message where it says āThis device isnāt registered to your Samsung deviceā. This is not true since, after being on support with the Samsung Account team, I was able to find out that the device IS registered. This means that I dont even have the icon of the watch in Smartthings Find. I Should mention (since this was a question support had) that when I tap on find device in the wearables app it ONLY lets me ring it, and it does NOT open Smarthings Find (which apparently is abnormal). #3 Speaking of Wearables, My Galaxy Buds 2 also have the same issue where when using the wearables app and clicking find my device, it doesnāt open Smartthings Find but also does like the watch and only lets me ring the device in the Wearables app. While it DOES appear in Smartthings Find and Samsung Find, it is never able to be found by my devices, and constantly spinning. I can see though that one time the device was found one time a long time ago using offline finding by a nearby device, but couldnt be found by my own devices (Ironically since when it was found it was connected to my phone). #4 My Galaxy Book 4 360 This one was the most shocking since my other devices are relatively old when I bought them so I thought maybe they were outdated for this service, but low and behold my less-than-a-month-old Galaxy Book 4 360. The issue on this device is even dumber because I can open the smartthings app on the book and try to find it on the own device andā¦spinning. Again.
Now, I have contacted support no joke like 6 times and each time they dont know what to do and leave me with nothing. I have reset each device (except my galaxy book, but I feel like at this point there is no point in doing that either) several times, signed in and out of my samsung account, turned on every. single. setting. that support said was necessary and absolutely nothing. This forum is really my last hope, and I hope there is a kind soul willing to read through this mess and help me out somehow. Thanks so much!
Itās hard to keep up with Find. Once upon a time there was just āFind My Mobileā which tracked your Galaxy phone. That still appears in your Galaxy phone settings so do go in there and make sure things that look like they should be ticked actually are.
Then along came the Find app within the SmartThings app. That seemed to draw upon the Find My Mobile service to find your phone but later did its own thing for tags (I donāt have a watch or buds). It was confusing because SmartThings has its own āLocationā based sharing model. Again do have a poke around the settings for the Find app that includes a section for the devices that are shared.
Eventually the Find My Mobile website became smartthingsfind.samsung.com at the loss of some useful proxy access to devices in other Samsung Accounts that was independent of SmartThings and later the tags became visible there. Everything was about SmartThings.
Now I see that there is a parallel samsungfind.samsung.com website that has crept in without my being aware and all mention of SmartThings has disappeared from the āFind My Mobileā settings. Now Samsung Find is the thing.
None of which probably helps you.
When you mention āThis device isnāt registered to your Samsung deviceā, is that actually āThis device isnāt registered to your Samsung accountā? That might suggest that watches and buds must be registered in your Samsung account, like registering purchases. Have you done that?
Samsung stuff is also rather regional. Is your Samsung account registered to the same country that your buds and watch were purchased from? Only things can and do go wrong with country mismatches. You could extend that thinking to your location too. Anecdotal evidence suggests things can go wrong if you are in one country and your Samsung account is registered in another.
I use the Find feature in the ST Life. I do not use any other SSung or Google Find app. I have an S23+ and 5 tags, 2 are the Tags+. All the features work as advertised, but none of my items are a watch or tablet. I can only say that the tags work. I am sure youāve tried everything so my next suggestion may be redundant. Start from scratch. Disconnect all. Add the tags but not the watch or tablet, and see if that works. I had a tablet and a watch (Classic 4) but jettisoned them for their complication to my ST system. The tag hardware may have been developed after the watch and tablet and the complication arises from that. Please keep us posted.
Hey orangebucket, thanks for reaching out. As far as the Samsung Find vs Smartthings Find, I havent really known which one to use, but it seems like nothing works for either service so for my issue it doesnt seem like the issue is the app. As for my watch issue, it does say, āThis device isnāt registered to your Samsung ACCOUNTā like you said, my mistake. Now this error message only appears when trying to track the watch from Smartthings, not the buds. The other 3 devices seem to work when it comes to showing up in the Smartthings find interface, but obviously dont track. As for the region of the devices, I bought most devices second hand new except for the Book. The watch could be from a different region but I have no idea how to find that out. The buds could also be from a different region, but it shows up in Smartthings find, so that may not be the case. Though the issue still happens with my galaxy book even though it is definitely bought from Samsung.com.
