I’ll chime in with my experience with the Gen5. I tried many times to add it from both the “+ Connect New Device” and specifically the “+ Connect Now” under Aeon Labs Multi-Sensor.
The first few times, it identified correctly as Aeon Multisensor Gen5 and I got all of the sensor data except motion. During this time, I saw no red light indication on the sensor or motion in the app. Everything else seemed to work fine.
The next bunch of pairings showed up as a window/door sensor and based on the instructions that said the motion was handled as an open/close, I was thinking this may be how it’s supposed to work and I’d need to add the other sensor data separetely as a temperature/humidity device.
Well, I could never get it to work that way either and just as I was about to send it back for the older model, I paired it the next morning and low and behold, it showed up as Aeon Multisensor Gen 5 again but this time, all sensor data worked including Motion!
I wish I could tell you what I did differently. I did play around with some Gen5 specific device type scripts that I’m guessing were made before SmartThings added support for it. The device type was removed when it finally added correctly, I do know that.
Anyway, I’m a SmartThings/zwave noob but hopefully this helps someone.
can you help to find a proper way to send configuration ?
I think sending configuration to Aeon devices it’s kinda tricky, I use Aeon labs micro smart energy switch, after I tap configuration tile, nothing happen, no log or other thing.
after much trying, finally i found the switch must be on off position before taping configuration tile.
Maybe you can find that to send the parameter to Aeon multi sensor
I would like this information as well. After much struggling I think I managed to get my new gen 5 sensors set up. The only issue I still seem to be having is the whole 4 minute issue people are talking about. When one of the sensors detects motion, even if it’s only for a second, it will continue to report motion for a few minutes. I haven’t used a stopwatch, but I’m guessing it’s right around 4 minutes.
Still waiting for official support from Smartthings about this problem.
But, follow the instruction from Eric will helpful
I was enable to change the value of motion delay
I see his posts, but are there more specific instructions I can follow? I’m not sure how to add a configuration tile to the device type like he mentions.
I just checked out the live logging tab, and also the events list for my various sensors. It seems like my two new gen 5 sensors are updating temp, humidity, lux every 60 minutes or so. My older aeon multisensor is updating those values about every 7 minutes. Is this typical? No data on the motion since I’m not home right now to trigger anything.
there will be long instruction to create custom device type, maybe you can search at another category at this community.
or try open this : http://docs.smartthings.com/en/latest/
if you see activity from your Smartthings mobile app, the update of sensor is shown if there’s any value change. When you see the log from live logging the update value is based on configuration of device.
I don’t know what real thing cause the update interval.
I loaded up the live logging page for about an hour and monitored all of my sensors. My first gen 5 sensor updated at 8:43 and logged a line for battery, temp, humidity, and lux. It then updated again at 9:15 with the same 4 bits of info. The values changed obviously, but the same 4 types of info. My other gen 5 sensor, which is above my front door outside, updated at 8:51 with a “Front Porch Sensor woke up” event, and then updated again at 9:07 with the 4 types of info (battery, humidity, temp, lux). Nothing since then. My final sensor, which is an older version of the Multisensor, seems to update about every 7 minutes or so. What also sets this unit apart is that every time it updates it does everything in duplicate. Instead of listing 4 lines every 7 minutes it lists 8. It gives all the data twice.
I’m honestly more confused now than ever. Definitely starting to wonder what the advantages are of the gen 5 sensors.
Hmmm,… it seems the problem with reporting method, I don’t know why.
I’m also asked support for this issue, but for my Aeon Micro Switch, not Aeon Multi Sensor
Cleared the logs and started again, this time letting it sit open a little longer. The two gen 5 sensors seem to update about every 30 minutes with new data. Older sensor still updates every 7 minutes or so but reports everything twice each time.
This multisensor is measure temperature with 1 decimal point accuracy (25.5 C for example).
So if there’s a change 0.1 C it will be reported at activity as temperature changing.
My SmartSense Open/close sensor is reporting temperature without decimal value (25 C). And will give report when there’s 1 degree celcius changes.
Is there any way to change temperature value reported from aeon labs multi sensor ?
I want like SmartSense, without decimal point. so reporting is not too often reporting temperature every 0.1 C
I just tried to setup my new Gen 5, it joined no problem but it has the 4 minute delay & reports nothing more than motion & battery. None of the other sensors are reporting anything
@nico89s@davglass Is the sensor now working properly with anyone? i just recieved one and i wanted to install it tonight Also i don’t need a 0.1 degree change notification etc.
It’s working.
with default device type provided from ST, you will get update with your temperature, humidity and luminance every 8 minutes
And motion inactive delay is 1 minutes.
Still don’t have answer about 0.1 degree change.
Till now my sensor is reporting every 0.1 degree temp change
