Or even a child in the household.
Holy crap here’s another fat finger hub deletion thread. How is this action not yet behind an account login page?
Exactly what I was wondering.
I just did this exact same thing. I am trying to enroll all of my Z-Wave in wall light switches and for some reason cannot get them into inclusion mode. What is the procedure to get these to re-enroll and the Hub now that I have the Hub back online?
Z-Wave devices need to be Excluded before they can be readded to the app.
To exclude tap on hub tile on mobile app, the select 3 dots in upper right corner, settings, Z-Wave utilities, Z-Wave exclusion. Then put the device in exclusion mode per the manufacturers instructions.
That’s what I’ve been trying to do but having very little success my switches are all 10 years old I installed them back when we built our house in 2014. They are Jasco and GE Z-Wave switches for some reason SmartThings keeps iding them as being able to do a secure setup. From what I understand this is only for the newer z-Wave switches
Have you tried doing the exclusion and pairing near your hub. Not very convenient for hard wired devices. You could try using a long Ethernet cable so you can temporarily move the hub to the devices.
I’m really close to the hub with about 10 of the switches. Unless you mean you get The Hub Within a foot or two
If they are older pre Z-Wave Plus devices try to get really close. Like a foot away.
Thanks for all your advice. I have all but two switches re-enrolled. For some reason I can’t get these last two switches to exclude or include. Do you know if there’s a place I can go to see all of my included devices, not necessarily the ones that show up in the smart things app but devices that are included to the hub?
You look in the Advanced Web App Samsung account but I don’t think that will help.
Thank you for this information. You are right it does not give me what I am looking for. But it is a great resource.
Not proud to admit but I just did the same thing. Was trying to exclude a Z-Wave device from the hub, not paying great attention as I was frustrated with the GoControl Garage door issue, and removed the hub. What a horrible design. There is no warning, and everything is just gone. How is this still an issue??
Just out of curiosity, what was the problem with your garage door controller?
I’m in the same boat…and was also trying to do the exact same thing - zwave utility to exclude a door sensor I was reusing. What a dumb design.
Hi all, for those of us that have not done this (yet), any advice on how to avoid it?
Also, if my ST hub v2 dies, will i lose everything like this?
If your hub dies, you can get another hub and use the hub replace feature to restore everything from the dead hub. A couple of items to note. 1) do not remove the dead hub from the app at any point. If you remove it then you lose all data for it. Hub replace willl remove it when the migration is complete. 2) You will want a replacement hub of equal capabilities if using them I.e. if using z-wave you would need an Aeotec hub or ST v3 hub but not a Station or appliance hub.
Awesome, thank you. I appreciate being prepared for the future rather than scrambling after things break
