XFinity Centralite 3400: how can I set up automations for it?

I set things to happen when the alarm set, I think tried it with bott apps, and nothing happened when setting the alarm via classic app.

Can we not use presence sensors to set the alarm via new app? (and lock/unlock doors) Seeing my phone can’t get on classic at this moment.

I did look at posts on the keypad, but I’m still working on understand things, right now all I want to do is set and disarm the alarm, disarm with a pin, perhaps set with a delay and lock the door.

Jdanforth:

The classic app on my tablet doesn’t read or make changes to my alarm, it says it makes a change but the new app on my phone and tablet doesn’t show the change and rules don’t change for the alarm

For some reason ST decided to make different SHM apps for the new and the Classic apps. I have no idea why, but it’s a real PAIN for everyone.

You need to pick one SHM and use it as they are not compatible with each other. If you’re using the Classic app then only use the Classic app SHM. Any changes made to the Classic app SHM will not show up in the new app.

How would you like to use the keypad? Did you check out the link I had posted above for some ideas on how to use your keypad.

The classic app on my tablet doesn’t read or make changes to my alarm, it says it makes a change but the new app on my phone and tablet doesn’t show the change and rules don’t change for the alarm. Other things do work, like it can control my door lock, switches and see sensor states. The classic …

With the Classic app you can use a Routine (under Automations) to automatically unlock your door when a presence sensor arrives. The new app cannot do this.

I don’t understand how you’ve setup rules based in your SHM state (if I understand what you’re referring to correctly). There is no native way to execute actions based on SHM states. You will need an app like this one which can execute actions based on the SHM state: [RELEASE] SHM Routines, Notifications and Actions

Keep in mind that this only works with the Classic SHM. I would avoid using the new app for now given level of automaton and customization you’re looking at doing.

The final step would be to use your keypad to control SHM (Classic).

Is there anywhere that will walk people through to help set things up? I can’t open the clasic app on my phone, just my tablet.

Is there incompatabilaties with the classic app and certain phones? It worjs on my tablet but on my phone, regardless of how I try to log in ( new user or smartthings user) it sends to a weblink that wont load. I can copy and paste it it that can help

So I’m brand new to ST’s as well, migrating from Iris. I found out last night -after a bit of time- that iris V1 keypad is now a paperweight. Looks like online I can get the v2, v3, 3400, etc etc… LOL. All I would like is to have a keypad on the wall where if needed someone could enter a code and turn off the alarm if sounding (besides the other super basics). I would like a panic button I suppose and would like to pay 45 or so or less. So… can someone let me know what the easiest best keypad might be and I’d also like to get a siren of some sort so that my doors can chime when open/close. I am willing to download a ‘handler’ and enter some copied code, etc, however I am by no means a coder/developer. Last I messed around with that stuff was during my android phone days 10 years ago LOL. THANK YOU to all the developers and tech people helping others like me with this stuff, Thank you Thank you Thank you very much. So I need a keypad and a siren, my old v1 iris had both in one. I have a ST 3pack mesh hub system too.

Yeah sorry about your v1, it not a standard ZigBee device unfortunately.

There are lots of options for keypads, depending on your needs. A couple of quick notes:

  1. If you’re looking for a built in Siren, use the v3 IRIS keypad it the keypad with a built in 85Db siren (note that the v3 “arms” without a keycode by pressing On button directly unlike other keypads which require a 4 digit code to Arm) or the the Iris v2 keypad with a 60dB siren
  2. If you want to use AA batteries, there are three options, the Xfinity XHK1, UEI and the IRIS v3 keypads
  3. You’re looking for a reliable “chime” keypad I would recommend the Centralite keypads or the Xfinity 3400 keypad. These are the only two keypads which have a reliable hardware based chime setup.

EDIT: With the latest DTH updates, you can use the Iris v2 60dB siren and the Iris v3 85dB Siren and also the chime features in these keypads. [RELEASE] Enhanced ZigBee Keypad - Centralite Keypad, Lowes IRIS Keypad, UEI Keypad and Xfinity Keypad Device Handler

OK great, just ordered the Centralite 3400 yesterday. Does it matter if I install the device handler now vs later ? I would think not but who knows, guess you guys would  Anything else I should do whilst waiting for the keypad ? Thanks again!

It’s generally better to install the DTH before for most devices as it helps with proper identification and also device initialization which is done after pairing is completed (installing the DTH after misses this step and can cause issues with some ZigBee devices, keypads included)

Ok thank you. I assume I need to be at home for the process of installing the DTH ? My phone has been paired with my hub and devices already of course but yeah, do I need to be at home in order to do above?

No, it’s all remote expect the actual pairing of the keypad.

See the topic for pairing device handlers

Ok so first I need to get lifetime access at 37.99
Then do I login to anything on my computer or do all steps from my cell ?
Then I go here **5. [Enhanced ZigBee Keypad Lock] ?
Sorry, not a programmer, etc. so just trying to follow the steps here to the t.
I have a radio thermostat, first alert smoke/co detector, water leak sensors and then multiple contacts that are all part of my system now and registering fine so far. Just an arbitrary piece of info. I have not installed any device handlers so far but looking to install the one needed for a centralite 3400 first. Thank you much

Yes you can do it all from your cell, thought it’s a tad easier on a desktop to copy paste. It’s fairly straight forward as you follow the steps. (basically a copy, paste, save and publish).

You may also want to check out SmartApp no 1 which can open up many options for creating custom actions using your keypad.

Ok bought the lifetime access. I’m looking at the code for enhanced zigbee keypad lock. I’m unsure where to start and where to stop my copying for copy paste… does it matter or ?
I’ll go ahead and just do this from my computer then, I guess it will translate into my app on cell phone then.

Just follow the step by step instructions from Device Handler installation instructions page:

  1. Click on the Device Handler you want to install, it will open a new window with the code, select all (Ctrl+A) and copy the code (Ctrl+C)

Thanks for your help.

Ok so I’ve installed rboy : Enhanced ZigBee Keypad Lock and I have some access on the 3400 keypad.

I cannot figure out how to make the doors chime.

If the system is armed will this keypad make any noise if a door is opened ?

I cannot figure out how to set the 4 digit security code.

Thank you !

*I’d like to get a couple smart bulbs, maybe an outdoor camera or 2, any suggestions on brand ?

You need an app like LUM: [RELEASE] Lock User Management: Door lock code manager (create, delete and schedule codes) with automatic lock/unlock, custom user actions and SHM/ADT integration to program codes.

LUM can sound a chime when doors are opened but you need a chime device and door sensor for it. Like the ZooZ chime or something.
EDIT: The ZigBee Keypads have a chime (Xfinity, UEI, Centralite, IRIS etc) that you can trigger and the IRIS V2 and V3 keypads have Sirens/alarms in them that can also be triggered: [RELEASE] Enhanced ZigBee Keypad Lock - Centralite Keypad, Lowes IRIS Keypad, UEI Keypad and Xfinity Keypad Device Handler

There are many topics on Cameras. If you need ST integration it’s either Arlo or Foscam

Man… I’m not an idiot but this forum makes me feel like it… Maybe someone can help, maybe not. I need easy 1-2-3 instructions. I can’t seem to find anything easy here, no detailed instructions on here is how to do this or that… it’s like I need to decrypt answers at every turn.

Here is what I have:
3400 keypad. It is paired to my mesh ST. I have a few contacts.
I have installed dh enhanced zigbee keypad lock as well as smart app lum.
I have an iphone with SmartThings apps both classic and whatever the other newer one is called. I’m trying to take baby steps here. All I would like to do for now is have the keypad chime when a door is opened. I would also like to be able to set a 4 digit pin. I’ve been looking around the community for what seems like hours and cannot find out how and WHERE to access these features. Am I missing where to look… something like ‘here’s where to go when installing a new 3400 keypad’ or something ? It’s just been really frustrating. I’m coming from the Iris system I had for years without issue.

Did you configure your keypad through the LUM app?

Open your LUM app:

  1. Add your keypad
  2. Add your user with your 4 digit pin
  3. Configure your keypad actions (what you want it to do when your unlock/disarm it and when you lock/arm it)

Thank you, no I did not… um, how do I get to the LUM app ?
I signed in on pc to smart things (which is how I installed LUM) and I see it under smart apps but can’t figure out how to get to your photo… Also… once I install under smart things website on pc… .does that transfer to my phone app at all then ? sorry, NEWBIE here.

See this step by step installation instructions for SmartApps:
https://www.rboyapps.com/InstallSA.htm

I’m assuming you’ve done steps 1-8 (if not you can do them, just don’t duplicate the code).

Then see step 9-11 to install the app on your mobile device using the ST Classic app and how to open it from your mobile device ST Classic app.
