I am replacing my 2-gang switch with dimmer switches. Upon placing them together, I realized they are too wide to fit side by side. Is there something I’m totally missing here?
Look for some scored tabs (ears) that can be broken off to get them to sit nice with each other.
yes, agreed, get pliers and cut the tabs off. they will fit but you have to push the wires as deep as you can. what type of switches are they?
They’re the GE dimmers. I thought for a second the tabs could be removed but they looked pretty permanent. I will have a closer look later today. You guys are probably right!
Just rock 'em back and forth a bit with a pliers and they’ll fall right off.
Yeah, its a fairly soft metal.
