Wireless Home Camera

@Sesan thanks for the reply.
from the SmartThings Video Integration FAQ

What can I do with SmartThings’ video features?

View live video feeds, monitor your home, and automate event-based notifications and video clip recording. Live video is viewable in the app through Rooms and Things. Clip-based recording is viewable through the Smart Home Monitor SmartApp.

Are video services free?

Live streaming is free. Customers can enjoy a free trial of clip-based recording within the Smart Home Monitor SmartApp until February 2016. After the free trial, clip-based recording will be available at a low monthly fee.

Unfortunately the Samsung WebCam is not as feature rich as other market web cams, and yet the faq goes onto say that mp4 download isn’t yet available which would make this product useful. My personal opinion is there is no point in buying a Samsung webcam at the moment. I would instead keep any existing web cams and download software like iSpy

Perhaps integration with iSpy or adding some of the features?

@schapper05 That is a valid argument and we will consider it. “The more sensors… The better.” does not necessarily apply, you have to think of value and overall impact on UX.
@anthonyK Thanks for your contribution. I agree with you on how clumsy the Samsung camera is I guess they focus on making televisions and refrigerators.

If a Lux sensor gets rid of another multisensor (that would be at least be doubling up on motion, and temperature) I think it would certainly add value.

You wouldn’t even necessarily need to have it displayed on the ux/ui right away. For Example, BloomSky Weather Station’s have a rain sensor. The app doesn’t display anything about rain. It does however send a push notification when it is raining. However using their API you can ask the device if it is raining or not. The created st app does have a tile for this sensor, and the user in this case would have the choice of displaying it or not. This is helpful in a like manner to adding a lux sensor.

@schapper05 Thanks for the input. Our product is made to be cute/handy and the lux sensor’s dimension is bigger than our MCU which would disrupt our design rhythm. We would not want to get data from a sensor installed onboard that isn’t tied to any UI and some of these data could be sourced from a third party server like the rain sensor you mentioned.

We have all of the features that iSpy offers and even more!

Requirements:

Hardware:

  • Battery and mains options
  • Long battery life (8hrs)
  • Ability to upload to personal cloud drive or similar (ie non proprietary servers)
  • No need for port forwarding
  • Strong encryption
  • Night Vision (IR) - is it possible to use 850nm IR which passes through glass?
  • Motion Tracking
  • Facial recognition
  • IP rated for outdoor use
  • Mounting options - magnetic, bolts and adhesives
  • wide field of view - about 140 degrees above
  • 1080P

Software:

  • Apple iOS
  • Ability to monitor via internet
  • Zone Selection

What do you have in mind? Any timescale?

Thoughtful and articulate. Thanks @Ed-ST. Responses are in the order asked.

Hardware:

  • Options of main power and a lithium ion back up battery
  • Battery is built to last more than 72 hrs with average use.
  • Customers have an option of private cloud storage (our servers are better tho for security and analytics reasons)
  • Port forwarding not necessary.
  • Very very strong encryption algorithm
  • Night vision IR available. Still comparing different IR LED wavelengths and how they react in different mediums like glass.
  • Motion tracking is onboard.
  • Facial detection, Facial recognition and Facial registration is available.
  • Suitable for outdoors but not weather proof.
  • Awesome UX from out of box with different mounting options like magnetic base mount, stand and adhesives.
  • Wide angle view. 145 degrees.
  • Both 1080p and 720p format options for slow bandwidth connections.

Software

  • Compatible with both iOS and android. Also, it is both HomeKit and SamsungThings enabled
  • You can monitor via both web (internet) and mobile (iOS and Android) clients
  • What do u mean by zone selection?

The ETD for the project is December 2016.

Cheers.

Sesan,

Zone selection is like smart zone - the ability to configure where in the screen areas one wants to monitor. see here : http://www.flir.com/flirfx/content/?id=65571

Missed / some more thoughts:

(1) the alert frequency needs to be instantaneous and not every 5 or 30 mins like some systems. Having the ability to control the ‘alert frequency’ would be useful.
(2) The ability to quickly screen through the entire days recording would be nice too. I like the FLIR FX ‘rapid recap’.
(3) what about 2 way audio?
(4) UK voltage/power capability. (240 Volts @ 50Hz)

Are you raising funds through crowd funding?
When can we get an indication of what the product looks like?

My use case is ease of mounting (anywhere) of the device outdoor without needing wiring and one with 8 hrs recording. Local storage (on device) is not requested but a nice to have. If the IR wavelength can be optimised to be able for me to locate the device inside while monitoring outside though double glazed windows, all the better. Many thanks.

Keep me posted.
Cheers.

Ok I get it. Lux values are used in that type of application and @schapper05 already made that wonderful suggestion. The team is still debating it’s value and trade offs.

  1. You can set the alert frequency to whatever value you want
  2. A finely curated arrangement of your videos.
  3. 2 way audio with mic and twin speakers
  4. We plan to ship internationally, so yes.

We might crowd fund and you will have some glimpse of the prototype in about 4 weeks and i am sure you would like it! :slightly_smiling:. You can also visit www.cleepcam.com periodically for updates too.

We have taken time to design something that you will actually enjoy having with a great UI/UX, private storage and magnetic mount/standing option.

I’d sure keep you posted.

Cheers Mate!

The world’s first AI enabled wireless camera is here!

website/kickstarter?

Edit: just saw the website literally in 2 posts above mine.

Most likely Indiegogo. Website would be fully launched in 5 days, It is interactive which requires extra work. we have a coming soon page in the mean time but I am double sure you would like the website too!
