Yeah, I thought the same thing… But… That’s what I get for thinking.

I live due west in Birmingham and our temps do the same thing. We hit 80 today, 40 something last night I think.

Anyway, I ran into the same problem. I’m not sure since you are using a nest, will Alexa change the mode of your thermostat?

I’m using two Honeywell zwave thermostats and she will not change the mode, just the temp.

So, I’m using the new and improved “Alexa helper” smart app to do all of the work for me.

But, since mine stay in auto mode this time of year, it’s a two step process (only in auto)

Alexa, turn on downstairs thermostat cool mode
Alexa, set downstairs thermostat to 72

It works like a charm.

All, Be sure to read this thread…newer version is listed below Been quiet lately installing more Echo’s in the house along with the V2 hub. Everything is good and I am taking a more ST approach to my homes, getting rid if IP devices and replacing them with ST compatible items (Samsung SmartCams replacing DropCams, a ZWave garage door opener instead of Chamberlain’s model, etc). As such, I re-looked at my Alexa Helper app. ST has been a bit slow in reviewing submitted apps, so I took an opportunity to update this app. One of the limitations of the platform is the inability to have more than 4 scheduled items within an app. To get around this, you must install the app multiple times.
