Why is it so hard to remove a device?

I have a cree smartbulb that will not delete. Error: “Device still in use. Remove from any SmartApps or Dashboards, then try again”

I recently had to add a device back to the smart apps it said it was installed under, then remove it again then delete it… It worked so I left it alone…

I discovered a faster way…

  1. from the Home screen, select the device you want to remove.
  2. hit the hamburger icon (top right hand corner) and select “Edit”
  3. Select “delete device”
